Bit drunk, but what Drogba did was absorlutely horrendous. To shout into the screen like that knowing that people were watching is worthy of a lengthy ban. Swearing within the game is tolerable in my opinion. To do it knowing that younger children will be seeing it is inexcusable. They are role models to society and should act in that way.

Even worse - the Drogba swearing wasn't broadcast live

The live pictures from one camera showed him shouting into another camera, they had some studio chat, went for a break and when they came back showed the footage from the 2nd camera which also had the audio. Some one at Sky screwed up in not checking what was on the audio before they put it out.

Was it after 9?? There are films after 9 with worse than that on and besides, the TV watchdog have ALWAYS said there may be swearing and violence after 9 on TV

You have been told over and over by them

But that's films etc where you know it is (or can be) the case - I don't think that the same applies to football broadcasts where people might legitimately think they can let youngsters stop up.

    That is ******.

So Drogba is allowed to swear and rant cos it was after 9 ? And OTT swearing at that.

So by the same token, on a Sunday afternoon live match he should keep shtum ?

Fact is, thousands of impressionable kids, mine included, stayed up as a treat to watch these "heroes", these "role-models", only to witness and learn what ? How to be a loud mouthed, vulgar, cheating buffoon ?

Get real. Watershed my fecking arse.

    Yep would echo that

Somehow Sky have got it into their heads that Jamie Redknapp is the voice of a new generation, a player that spent more time on treatment table than actually playing. I get sick of seeing him arguing like a student down pub with his pin striped tie and trousers that tight that you can see his balls squashed!!

Ruud is a different kettle of fish in terms of been there done that, but even so still has too much bias, what Sky forget is that not everyone tuning in wants to hear them wax lyrical about English Football teams, not everyone wants to see an English final and not everyone wants to bleat on about how good the bloody premiership is to everyone!!

Sky should realise that many viewers actually like the whole European competition and that means seeing and hearing about the cream of Europe. My mate for instance is a big Spanish football fan as well as sharing love of the Italian game like myself. Who else do they think is watching La Liga on a Saturday and Sunday night when its broadcast in Britain?? Its not the owners of tapas bars i can tell you

Get it sorted Sky, get some pundits in that are balanced and have an excellent knowledge of European football, Roy Hodgson etc

Jamie stick to playing on Wii with yer Dad, and Ruud try and remember you actually played for other big European teams rather than just the Johnny come lately Chelsea

Also Drogba behaved like many foreigners who come over here

    Disagree

yes it was after the watershed but it wasn't an adult program, it was a game of football enjoyed by families throughout the world and allowing bad language on it was in breach of ofcoms guidlines which state that offensive language must not be broadcast before the watershed OR when children are particularly likely to be listening. It was clear that children were likely to be listening as football is regularly watched by children and the TV companies are aware that children are likely to be watching/listening.

Also his behaviour was threatening and surely in breach of a public order offence and most definetly brought the game into disrepute so he should be punished by the footballing authorities.

It was one F word and if you watch or go to football you have to expect it.

Why do you have to expect it though?

Swearing by footballers is not allowed, they get banned for doing it so why is it to be expected?

Because you hear much worse in the crowd. I'm assuming those unhappy at what they kids hear go upto people at home matches and tell them to stop swearing.

    I think there's a difference

The difference being that people in the crow are not who the children are watching. They arent the role models that they want to emulate while Drogba is. If he gets away with that kind of language then children will think its ok to do the same.

    I totally agree

What comes around goes around, Drogba has dived plenty of times to win a penalty before but because he doesnt get one he kicks off. The less of these players the better for English Football.
