    Nanny state!

Should ban people getting drunk, much more annoying!

Easy.... (note sarcasm contained in this message)

    a) By increasing the costs of fags to the current smokers to combat the loss of sales from those that give up

    b) by increasing tax on petrol and road fund licence

    c) council tax increases

    d) beer price increases

and any other tax you can think of, plus the introduction of a (probably) new clean air tax, by the use of a "congestion charge" style, for people who want to breath clean air by charging them £3 for the privalidge of going into a clean air environment.

Here in Norway we got the smokingban on public places many years ago leading to.
    1. Many restaurants and pubs closed down, because the guests stopped coming
    2. Smokers had to go out doors to smoke, freezing our balls off in the winter.

How will this relate to the Stands at Barnsley.

It's about time they banned any smoking in the stands except for old men with flat caps - who should be forced to smoke a pipe.

It will be interesting to see as I suppose the ground could be classed as 'outside'.

Ban people who want to ban smoking, and force them to smoke their own sweaty socks...

In Scotland the law extends to cover confined outdoor spaces

such as stadia - that's certainly how I read this when it first emerged:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_and_west/5290278.stm

It is difficult to see how ANY smoking can be permitted in such a legal environment. Imagine the East Upper - if you cannot smoke in the stand itself, you certainly won't be allowed to smoke in the area where the toilets, bar etc. are, as this is definitely indoors. Will that mean smokers walking all of the way down to the bottom at half time? There wouldn't be time to get both ways and have a smoke!

Still it's coming, and anyone who thinks it will never happen should go to Glasgow or Dublin for a night out, and see how universally observed it is.

    Hmmmm

In the stands where you can't get away from the dolls head next to you who can't go for a few minutes without spreading cancer it's ok.

Down below where you can stand where you want it's band!

    That would be peverse.

Nice atmosphere, nice prices, good beer and variety of beverages.
However you would think the staff would be trained on
    a) what beverages they serve
    b) how to serve them
    c) how to operate the till
BEFORE they start serving the public. And there is one lad there who must have short-term memory loss. It's like his first shift every night he's on.

Oh and missing kick off for the Stoke game having ordered food at 1:30 is not acceptable.

Still having problems with doing food are they? I went in the first Friday lunchtime after they'd opened and was told it was a hour and half wait for food so didn't bother - would have thought they'd have sorted that out in 4 months! They need Gordon Ramsey to sort them out!

Otherwise not had a problem, apart from the barman didn't know where a particular brewery (of one of the beers they were serving) was.

Not knowing the whereabouts of every brewery doesn't really count as a problem.
Maybe I'm just a magnet for gormless barstaff.

After all, Mrs Revvie P used to work in a bar...

Didn't mean it was a problem, just that he was really phased when we asked!

Talking of breweries - any possible date for Wentworth yet or has that idea been kicked into touch? My mate was asking me last week.

It's been kicked into next year, making it a &quot;back burner&quot; project for now.
But I remain determined, so back end of January is the current proposal.

Public Place as defined in law of England and Wales includes inside football grounds

A place where admission is given to the public, on payment or otherwise, on expressed or implied permission. So that includes a stand in a football ground.</p>
