    100% correct Jim.

This is an understandable reaction. At the moment, we can only compare players that we knew with players that we do not know. We know what Fletcher, Isgrove and Brownhill were capable of, but we do not know what their replacements are capable of. In some cases, we do not even know who their replacements will be. We do not really know what the general standard of the competition in the league will be, but we do know that most teams will have higher budgets than we do. There is a natural trepidation amongst our fans based upon that uncertainty and with that trepidation comes concern. However, there is one thing for certain. We as fans can have little influence on the outcome. We are totally reliant upon the skills and judgement of the people who run our club. The skills and that judgement of our management team are all that we have in the battle to beat the disadvantage of not having a competitive budget.

There are those who will say, pay whatever it takes for player x or player y, but frankly, there is more to it than that. The club management must do all its due diligence or it can waste the limited budget that we have. We are looking to pay the right price for a player, but that is only possible if the right psychological moment is chosen for the making of the offer. Often, these things come about as the result of a long and protracted dance, with all parties making careful moves along the way.

Of course, the fans will become impatient. They will put pressure on the club to make a decision, to make an offer, to cut corners and bring the player in. I sense that in the past, corners have been cut and mistakes have been made. With hindsight, I am sure that many of us could point the finger at many of those mistakes. Speaking personally, I do not know anything about the players playing for other clubs, so it is comparatively easy for me to place myself in the hands of the football professionals that run our club. Those who are paid to have that knowledge. However, there are individuals who post on here who seem to believe that they do have that knowledge. They read that a player is quick, or they see some YouTube footage of the player's best bits and believe they have done the due diligence, and they know instinctively that this is the player that we need. They are wrong! BE PATIENT AND LEAVE IT TO THE PROFESSIONALS.

no we don't. our manager thought that brownhill was better than scowen at that particular time and period. that will do for me and thats why brownhill played but dont let that stop you being a plum.

So Brownhill then but might not be as good now? Ok.
