    If we are talking about history repeating itself then Spain, Germany and Brazil would all still be in Russia.

    They've all gone home and we're still there.

    France are clear favourites but it’s not exactly upset of the year if England or Croatia turned them over. Probably a final with a 65%-70% chance of a France win.

    That would be my main worry. What I would give for Ashley Cole in his prime to do a job on him. Anyway let's get past Croatia first! Then start fretting about France. At the end of the day they were pretty awful during the group stages. If they play like they did against Australia we'll beat them at a canter.

    I also feel that France are favourites for the World Cup as they are riding the same wave of good fortune that won them the last one regarding refs decisions and deflected goals.

    I agree with you on this one. Semi-final is an overachievement already, IF we beat Croatia then that would easily be the best result since 1966 in a WC, given we never beat teams ranked above us. Watching France last night; they have an absolute rock solid defence and pace to burn when attacking, look absolutely frightening. Strange things happen in one off games but I think if most people took their rose tinted specs offf they’d agree France should beat us.
