As Brian Howard said after the game on Radio Sheffield, Barnsley need at least 4 points from the next 2 games. If they do not do that, his position is untenable, 2 losses would be a disaster. The team are good enough to win both but seem to have lost the ability to do so. MY OPINION: If he does not get 4 points, he will still not be dismissed.
I’m just trying to maintain a positive outlook. Don’t read more in to it than that, otherwise you’ll tie yourself in knots trying to read something that isn’t there Joking aside, I’m not daft enough to think this isn’t really bad. But for once the final whistle did bring some positives and green shoots. Doubt it’s enough though based on the six losses we’ve experienced running in to it, but we can definitely beat WRDCFC and Hull aren’t performing any better than us. If we do get positive results from those games it could be the catalyst our season needed.
I hope it is. I don't feel we can confidently expect to beat anybody right now though. Schopp's selections are totally baffling. If we replace him we may end up with someone as bad (if that's possible) but at least we'd have tried to change something. It's going to take a lot more than beating Derby and Hull to keep us up now.
Only Moon was baffling today but then he really did do a decent job in there. The rest of the team, based on who was available, was probably exactly as most would have picked. I get the challenge on Hondermarck not being in the squad, but if Palmer and Benson are fit and you drop one of those completely you’d probably get the same challenges. I know it’s all standard, the bare minimum, etc. but I did like the noises coming from the players in this week’s presser and also the desire on the pitch. Not just deciding to attack and play like last Sunday, but they were fighting for every ball and definitely in it together. I’ve questioned that desire recently.
I get that folk may say, “but there’s been injuries “ or lack of backroom staff with the supposed mass exodus, waiting for visa’s or whatever. The truth of the matter is it’s a results driven business. If any manager at any other club had the stats you’ve posted there, they’d be absolutely be long gone by now.
Dropping Hondermarck was another strange one. I'm not sure substituting Gomes was the right idea either.
Think Gomes gave the ball away prior to one of the goals so probably got punished for that. I think the Moon/Benson partnership was positive second half so wasn’t a change that cost us the game or had a negative effect. I worry about our physicality with any two from Gomes/Palmer/Benson. That’s why I’d play all three of them
You do realise we lost again don't you despite playing with 6 defenders against a team who last won a home game 270 days ago. Schopp needs to go now.
Do you think I watched the game and thought we won? You keep repeating the ‘six defenders’ line. But I reckon 99% of us would have picked five of them based on availability and the other one was probably in the top three performances. You seem to think any kind of positivity about performance needs to be batted down with stats we’re all aware of. You don’t need to explain to me that he deserves to be sacked, but people can also comment on today’s performance in isolation. The post you replied to is a true reflection of today’s game as I saw it.
Yes played 6 defenders but couldn't find a spot for our quickest defender despite the fact we keep getting done down the channels by through balls behind our wing backs.
Be a bit more specific here mate because it feels like you’re changing your complaint. Who did you want Sibbick to start instead of? Did you want one of Madds, Helik or Kitching dropping? Or did you want him to play instead of Brittain?
We couldn’t win because we weren’t creating chances and scoring . Now we’ve started creating chances and scoring our defence decides to continue to capitulate .
