Different players. Digby/Hassell have been used to sit in front of a back 4 with 2 other central midfielders. He obviously wanted someone who for the next hour could get about and put the graft in considering we were down to 10 men.

Considering he got brought off the last home game at half time for Digby & was on the bench the next game I think that shows he's not exactly first choice at the minute.

The fact of the matter is that Mellis is a talented player and we are fortunate to have him.

It's on JLWBL and my tick list.

First tackle Mellis does in the game, usually within a couple of minutes of the game starting, one of us will turn to the other and say, "Can't tackle that lad, heart like a pea."

And then when McCourt opens up the defence with a 30 yard pass to feet, "Never passes that bloody McCourt the selfish bleeder."

    It passes the time.

Mellis was our best player on Saturday and has been pretty consistent since being moved into the middle. All those no heart comments are as pathetic as the people who make them.

I think Mellis is a cracking player who's not afraid of running forward with the ball and attempting to play that killer pass but that said I don't think he suits in a 4-4-2 with out and out wingers as it leaves us open, I would rather play:

    .........................COG
    .............Shea Mellis Jennings

    CM Frimpong

    or

    ......COG Proschwitz

    Shea.......................Jennings
    .........CM Frimpong

Don't like Mellis playing in a middle two, he's a lot better in a middle three. On the ball he's brilliant its the strongest part of his game, if players find space they will get the ball.

He needs to work on his game when he's not on the ball both positionally and retaining possession. Saturday he got too tight and got turned on a few occasions, it's a love hate relationship with him as one minute he can look quality and then disappear. Definitely a player i want in our squad but wouldn't play him in a middle two!
