Maybe not in your eyes. As a woman I'm mot terribly bothered about the terminology but I am bothered about cricket being for everyone. If changing terms makes it more inclusive, so be it. Language does change over time.
I mentioned this nightwatchmen thing to my wife and she told me that apparently women are not allowed to "breast feed" any more, they have to "chest feed". Now I don't know if this is correct or not, I've never heard it before, but it certainly opens up a whole new vista, literally ! Girls, is this right?
It has to be night watchman as the game is between two mens teams , if it between two ladies teams then an agreed name can be found to suit the format of the game
I'll say breastfeed as that is anatomically correct. If others want to say chest feed , that's up to them.
So something that is entirely innocuous, inconveniences nobody whatsoever is picked up, blown up and a crisis is created over nothing. Nightwatchman, nightwatcher, Wee Willie Winkie, who gives a damn?
You say potatoes I say potartoes. You'll be buzzing when someone suggests abandoning the use of the word 'mankind'.
Doesn't bother me at all. Though I'm interested, do they have a tailenders in female cricket? Or do they have flowerenders*? *sorry, couldn't resist
