Well not Stuttgart as both their 1st and 2nd teams were relegated this season!

Germany and Spain both seem to be able to produce a consistent stream of world class players though, so I'd say it's working for them, nobody complains about it.

So the national teams benefit? How many Spanish and German players play in their top leagues? Seems that works too. I think its great for the Premier league, its terrible for L1 & L2 development and survival

Yeah, because they've spent their whole careers playing in the top leagues...

I also want to know why conor hourihanes experience in the jpt this season would have been more valuable to his development as a player if he had a devil on his shirt rather than a miner and a glassblower .

Football, and the England team as well, would benefit from further limiting the opportunities of premier league teams dozens of youth players rather than increasing them.

The FA seem to think that if a young lad who has a contract t Manchester United plays in lower league competitive football then he will become a better player. Surely the same young lad would also become a better player by playing lower league professional football for a lower league club (eg Hourihane) so the solution isn't to piss around with the league's and force b teams into lower league, it is to encourage players to sign for lower league clubs and get that valuable experience.

Sadly too many premier league clubs are able to stockpile young players which A. denies them the experience to grow. B. Lowers the standards of the lower leagues. C. Raises wages of mediocre players. And the reason that they can do this is that the players know that the don't have a choice to make, they are able to sign for huge wages happy knowing that they probably won't make it at the big club but it doesn't matter because they will get loaned out anyway and still pick up the obscene wages. Now they even know hey will play in the JPT as well making their decision even easier.

If these opportunities were removed by a clamping down on the abuse of the loan system so that only TRUE emergency loans are allowed then these young lads have to sit and think '**** if I sign for Manchester united it might be my last ever game. I'll stay at Luton instead and become a better player THEN sign for man utd as a first teamer'

Make it harder for prem clubs to stockpile and destroy the talent, not easier.

    All true.

It annoys me how the premier league can manipulate a lower league competition for purely their own gain. Having to offer the financial carrot amplifies it by demonstrating they see money as the driver and can 'buy' a ,farm club competition'. Even worse is that this will reduce crowds at lower levels. Why don't they just create a proper reserves league and do away with this U21 development games. They don't develop young players and it limits adult games for existing pros and u21s alike.
