So. Go out. But stay in. Go to work. But don't. Play sport. But don't. Go to school. But don't. Sunbathe. But don't. But all of this is conditional. Or not. Stay safe. Stay home. But don't stay home. Stay alert. Stay alert on public transport. But only in Phase 3.
Picture the scene. It's just stopped raining. But the outfield is soaked. There's a bit of standing water on one of the used wickets. The umps have gone out to have a look. They spoke for 5 minutes then shouted over the captains. Then they've said it's up to you lads.
As a former cricketer I understand that analogy all too well. Id have been in the captains ear saying, ‘bars open, let’s fcukk it off and get rat arsed.’
It's a thankless task though. We can see on here how many people there are chomping at the bit to get back out there. Pressure from the left, right and centre. Wish i was living in wales or scotland.
It’s not thankless, it’s tough I’ll give you that but the wishy washy communication from the Govt has been absolutely appalling from start to finish and today’s non message has again done the opposite of what the message should have said. Its a complete mess and the numbers back it up. We aren’t winning, we are getting hammered 6 nil and it’s not even half time yet.
I don’t think the messaging is mixed for no reason. People will interpret it however they want them when the inevitable second wave hits then they will lame the public. Classic Dom
Completely agree. It would be a thankless task doing this in this country whoever was in power though.
Possibly mate. I’m just shocked at how ambiguous the language is. We’re either being lied to or they are absolutely out of their depth.
They still dont know why you and me could be stood together in a bus qeue and both get coughed on by an infected person and you live and I die. Yet they're saying you can go to the park and have a kick about as long as you're in the same house. What if you're in a fraternity? Thats alot of people going out.
I genuinely wonder if the government could end up being forced to resign if any subsequent investigation shows serious negligence in their handling of the situation.
With what they've done tonight the country will be in complete lock down by next weekend. Totally pathetic.
I'm pretty sure that there will be a public enquiry so we might find out. I doubt that the outcome would bring the government down but it could cost the PM his job.
Probably hasn't but in its initial phases it was really trying hard to push the blame on to the firefighters
This is spot on. It has been shocking to see the amount of people congregating in large groups the past couple of days with the nice weather and now the lack of clarity from Boris will see more people think they can do what they want. It's going to be utter carnage. As a couple of others have pointed out, it's no coincidence that he's left the message open to interpretation, he's positioning the government to shift the blame on to the general public should the second wave happen. In terms of employment, they clearly want an end to the furlough process but yet schools not going back until June at the earliest!!!
