Well, he had his chance to get out

He was offered the chance to speak to Port Vale ahead of Richards. So I'm guessing he doesn't figure too highly in Davey's plans.

Daewoo Matiz may well improve. An inauspicious debut, I'll grant you. But who expected a player who has been playing in League 2 to shine in his first Championship game, against opposition with their sights set firmly on the Premiership?

Today was far from perfect but was a vast improvement on the displays against Leicester, QPR and Wednesday, against far superior opposition. As far as I am concerned it was a short step in the right direction. As long as we continue progress I think we'll just about make it.

Are you saying that Togwell was offered ahead of Richards?

    Interesting.

    RE: No

Do you think its better to never look like scoring every week, the tactics and formations played by Davey have been fecking ridiculous. Under Ritchie we at least tried to score some goals. Now we dont even try to get the ball near our "strikers". They will not score if the ball is not played to them in the right areas. I admit under Ritchie it was getting a bit ridiculous, but now we have no confidence what so ever.
I dont see how buying div2 players can be an improvement on what we have already. I know that Nugent was signed from div 2 and he only cost £50,000 , but he is the exception rather than the rule.

Only repeating what I've been told

It is info I cannot swear to, but have no reason to doubt.

Togwell has been on loan at PV and I understand they enquired about his availability in PX for Constantine. It is my understanding he was offered the chance to speak to them but declined the offer, preferring to stay in the Championship for now. Thus Richards was put forward. As Constantine's arrival directly affected his place in the pecking order, he chose to make the move.
