He is a failure as a championship manager I acknowledge he is a decent league 2 manager and an average league 1 manager.
He's adapted very well. Defensively he's illustrated how quickly he learns: every week his positional play has improved. Has become excellent in the air too. You think I'm on the wind-up, but it's an honest assessment. He was average at best when he returned and played out wide, but since the change in position we've developed yet another player we can make money on. Selling the same player twice when in fact it could be two different players? That's Hill for you.
Keef really must be a genius to turn that pappy ****er into a full back. Or it could be it's the fourth division? Did we buy him? Keef will have to leave you again to sell him if so..
I've seen Dale this season, once in the flesh, lots via higlights etc. They'd probably beat us at the moment. Hence us both looking like third tier sides.
But he's an example of past lessons illustrating that some of our ex players are good. And going off the Forest game the other week, you'd take plenty of our players right now. Or you should want to.
Aye oreyt. Yer getting giddy mate, those players are performing in L2, it's an absolute MASSIVE step from there to the Championship. Entitled to your opinion but it is mere conjecture, and a little bit dreamland if you ask me.
I dislike Hill for the whinging ratter than being ***** to be honest. Compare the job he did to the following: Wilson's first season. Inherited team that finished just outside the bottom three. Spending zero. Flogged our best player in Taggart. Finished 6th. Whinging none. That's being a manager. Machin flogged Currie recruited Taggart, Fleming, Redfearn and others (got change). Flirted with play offs. Decent cup runs. Whinging like a girl - none. That's being a manager. Bobby Collins flogged David Geddis zero cash got in Futcher and a few other gems. Whinging none. That's being a manager. In addition all the above managers brought on young players that became mainstays of the team or we flogged for profit. Flitcroft January last year 2 of our best players sold galvanised the team and got in replacements who really made a difference in Scotland O'Grady et al. That's being a manager. Having a Vaz Te inspired run of 2 months that's having a Vaz Te inspired run of a couple of months (who he picked reluctantly and often preferred Matty Done) Managers we've employed at this level since we came up I think have all done a decent job. Ritchie should have been talked to and worked with, Davey mixed views from the fans but attained success we can only dream of, Robins a decent manager and a big loss. Flitcroft poor when long term planning came into play but great in times of crisis. Hill I'd say the worst of that bunch. Ignoring the stats I'd put him one notch above Spackman. Probably on par with Parkin. His signing of players absolutely crippled our club. Awful awful players he signed that we had to pay to get shut of Wiseman, McNulty, Dagnall others we can't get shut of like Kennedy. Those signings are the root cause of us getting relegated. Danny, a proper manager, came in and saw how out of their depth they were immediately. Like I say people mistake being a pillock for being a character. As for the job he's den at Rochdale I would always acknowledge him as a good League 2 manager as I would acknowledge McNulty and Done as good league 2 players.
We have a proper manager now who realises that signing a team of Rochdale players gets you at Rochdale team so I don't think we will be repeating that mistake again. Do I think any of your current players are good enough for the Championship I'd say no with a couple being good enough for the Top of League 1. Pretty much the type of player Hill signed for us.
