I wonder if Devaney is doing extra work on his crossing this morning... nt

It would be handy if he learnt how to cross with his left foot seeing as he usually ends up on that wing!

Howard is at his best when the whole team is doing well. Not at the races when they're not.

I wouldn't drop him either. Does the boring stuff in midfield to allow us to play with two wingers. More mobile than any of the other midfielders.

    Agree about Howard as well.

Free kick aside he was rank on Saturday. Everyone's allowed an off day like so hope he smartens up for the cameras tonight.

Can't fathom how folk want Togwell out of the side. His passing's not the best but the rest of his game is spot on imho for the role in central midfield.

Think the problem is that when Howard is off form (like he has been for the last 3 games) we have bugger all creativity in the centre of midfield. Togewell is good at what he does, but is severly limited in his passing ability.
That means we then rely on the wingers more, and Campbell-Ryce seems to have very little going for him.

Very true - 2 Howard-esque players in midfield and we'd be in the **** tho.

Hope Davey keeps Devaney and JCR going though because JCR looks a better player when he's another natural wideman in the team to take the responsilbility off a bit.

Agree - he's the best holding midfielder we've got. The ground he covers is amazing. Just watch how many times he bails the full backs out on breakaways.

We need to get the best out of Howard ASAP. Great start to the season from him, and all eyes were on him. Papers started to talk and then all of a sudden he's had a couple of 'bad games. Fair play, the majority of the team played bad at the same time BUT we need Howard to pick them up too.

Sure he will come good again very soon.

I'd tell Togwell to hold more and stop the forward runs ...

I thought a lot of the reason Howard looked unimpressive was Togwell going forward instead of holding, left gaps in the middle and took Howard away from his natural game. Anyway:

    Muller

    Foster, Souza, Nayatanga, Kozluk

    Devaney, Togwell, Howard, Werling

    Ferenczi, Macken
