Well, the best manager of all time Ol Big Ed said get the spine of the team right and the rest will fall into place, we've not done that and as a result we've struggled.

Because they went far better than anyone expected last season now everyone will give more care and attention, and they've lost their 40 goal strike force. they WILL struggle.

    RE: Relegation fodder?

And recent results would justify that worry, to an extent.

I've seen two games so far this season - in the case of goals against, IMHO, two were the results of the central-defence (Coventry's first two), two the fault of the full-backs (Coventry's last two) and one the fault of the midfield getting caught on the break (Darlington). It isn't all the fault of the central-defenders...

What's more, I have faith in both Souza and Nyatanga to provide the muscle we need - maybe another centre-half would add greatly to the equation but, without sounding repetitive (perish the thought!), I think the most important element is time and patience...

I thought they would struggle but they have signed an expirenced pro and a fast youngster to replace what was lost.

    And that means...

    What exactly?

OK, so maybe they overachieved last season but it still doesn't guarantee a nailed on result for every single visitor to Layer Road! Especially not teams that are as much tipped for the drop as us!

To reiterate - it's disappointing that we didn't come away with all three points under the circumstances but it still isn't the worst of results!

    RE: Relegation fodder?

Maybe time and patience will put another couple of stones on Nyatanga's frame but for this season at least he'll be skinny, so will Souza and so will Reid so all will be at the mercy of the opposition's more muscular striker's. Opposition managers will know that if you put you're big man in there, get the ball in the box, there's goals a plenty.

    Calm down love

You seem to be arguing all sorts of points there. None of which I raised. All I said was that many people on here have tipped Colchester for the drop.

    RE: Calm down love

I'm perfectly calm, Jay - it appeared that the point you were making was that the that fact some on here tip Colchester for the drop somehow makes today's point somewhat less decent.

Apologies if that wasn't the case, fella...

Muscles, balls, boxes and big men - you might've strayed off the subject, mate!

    Kidding...

Time and patience is all that we've got at the mo, I suppose that's the crux of my argument...

I'd have taken a point before the game

However, at 1-0 up and with Colchester down to 10 men, I think we should have held on to the lead.

    Without a doubt...

We should've come away with three points - to throw away a lead to ten men is unacceptable, to throw away parity ought to be unthinkable!...

    RE: Relegation fodder?

Ha! No I've not strayed from the subject mate. A decent big defender with muscles and balls (I never mentioned boxes did I?) will be worth the money and will keep us up. Davey needs to find one quick.

She would've liked that, doggy style, facing the telly, when Match Of The Day is on - she finds footballers a bit of a turn on and twenty-two of them at a time makes her go all soggy...

Unless you had her blindfolded - she likes that as well...
