She's knowledgeable. I don't see the problem. No one asked for Le Tiss , Thompson etc to be removed, but now it's Alex Scott's fault? Can't see anyone going at the appalling, "can't string 2 words together" Clinton Morrisson who seems to have got a gig for just being there. At least she is articulate.

I don’t get to watch this as much these days as I tend to either be at Oakwell or for the last few seasons watching us away on ifollow but when I do I like all three of these blokes & would’ve liked to have seen them carry on.

I’m seeing lots of talk of knowledge & speaking coherently, these are pretty irrelevant when it comes to Soccer Saturday. They might be a bit serious in the first hour or so but for the most part it’s really an entertainment show. I don’t think anyone has ever wanted or expected any serious tactical analysis from the show. They can’t even show clips from the games.

Whether it’s a white or a black person or a man or a woman they have to fit in with the show. If Alex Scott goes in & tried to deliver deep tactical insight & didn’t get involved in the jokes then she wouldn’t fit in. It’s the same for Micah Richards, Clinton Morrison & any of the other names who are getting linked to the roles. Ultimately they’re going to be working with Jeff, Kammy & Merse so the type of show it is isn’t going to change. I’d love to see Micah Richards on there as he’s knowledgeable but entertaining as well. However I can’t see Sky breaking up his brilliant double act with Roy Keane.

If you want tactical insight there’s lots of other programs, radio shows & podcasts analysing games without Soccer Saturday losing its magic.

Surely, people want their pundits to deliver an insight into football , in terms of the stuff we don’t see, like tactics, thoughts process etc, not a stat(anyone can give a stat).

From what I can gather from one side of this thread.

If a man plays football and then retires he is deemed to have knowledge purely due to having played football (despite how thick we all know some footballers are)
If a woman plays football and then retires she is pretending to have knowledge

    Makes sense

And? You seem to post a lot of links without offering an opinion. This was is from The S*n, so a warning would have been nice. Usually, it's from that conman 'Professor' Sikora.

What if his replacement is another white middle aged white guy?

    Who cares?

Can people stop using the word "sacked"? They haven't been sacked. They will have had a contract which has expired and Sky have chosen not to renew, as is their absolute right. It's not as if they've had a 10 year contract torn up and been marched out of the building by security.

Whether you liked the pundits or not,the programme was a success. In my opinion their is only one reason for this and we will find out when the season starts.

I think we need a token lesbian, gay, disabled and person of etnicity on every sporting event that requires punditry.

It makes things equal and more diverse. I know when Barnsley score on a saturday afternoon I'm thinking I wonder whose sat on Jeff Stellings knee.

I posted similar the other day, but surely in TV is absolutely makes sense to have a diverse cast.

All the gammons on here need to just shut up or **** off.

Genuine question: how many disabled people do you know who present anything on tv? Until Adam Hills I had never seen anyone with a disability on tv unless it was the Paralympics. I really like the adverts that Maltesers did where every version featured a person with a disability. Before then, there was nobody. Imagine being a disabled person and never seeing a single successful disabled person anywhere as a role model, same with BAME people if they never saw a BAME role model on TV. You can trivalise it all you want but someone isn't ever going to grow up wanting to (or thinking they can) be something that they've never seen someone they can relate to be. It's difficult for you to imagine as as a white man, you have seen white men everywhere you look growing up. Try to think about if everything you've even seen, from things on TV, to people on radio, to people doing various jobs had all been black women. All of them, every one, not a mix where you see some sometimes, I mean every one apart from that one white man on that one show who everyone says only got the job to be the 'token man' and is vilified for it constantly. Someone comes to fix your boiler, it's a black women, you call out someone to fix your car and out comes a black woman, you switch on your TV and there's a black woman presenting (and maybe a young guy wearing boxers and a tight fitting shirt walking around holding up a board), you fancy watching football so you turn on the TV to watch one of many of the women's matches, you could maybe look out your local men's team down the park but the only people who watch them are their family and friends so you'd feel a bit weird and they're not very good anyway as they get no funding for training, kits or a proper pitch. Despite all this, you do manage to break the mold and get a job as an AA Woman (don't worry, you're still a man but that's what everyone refers to you as, when people phone up they say 'I'll send a woman around to you right away' and then you are the one to turn up). You don't see it because you are the person who has always been represented your entire life but you're not the only person who lives here and it's about time you recognised it.

I wonder if she complained when they had a family of blue aliens on their adverts not long back.

How about not seeing it as a PC brigade and seeing it as kids having someone to look up to who they relate to? Everyone deserves to look around and see someone like them in successful roles and the less chance they get to do that, the less chance that it will ever be them in those successful roles and the cycle continues.

They live and walk amongst us, its utterly depressing. My daughter is being brought up in a society more racist and mental than I was brought up in. I was a strike toddler living under a Thatcher government ffs!

Society isn't supposed to regress, I wish for a more enlightened and kind time like 1998 or 99.

Can we start from 96 again? That was a good year for football.
