RE: Just one question: Having seen him 3 times last season and what he has done in his brief apperances. He passes the ball to a player in the same colour shirt.
You watched him 3 times? Just him? Are you sure? I too hope he's the best player in the world ever. But I'll wait until I've had a decent look at him first. After playing 53 minutes for us - he's done well, and has broken the world record for back passes to the keeper ... so I'll wait until he's started maybe 6 games until I start to form an opinion. You are very certain of yourself. One one hand - you could be a football expert with various coaching badges & bags of hands on experience. On the other hand - you might be a gobby feckwit who knows as much about football as Jay does.
RE: You watched him 3 times? A combination of the 2 I think. However I would prefer him to pass back to the keeper than hoof it forward and lose the ball.
RE: You watched him 3 times? When John Barnes became old and **** he used to pass it back a lot. I think it's called being 'cultured'.
All the defence were OK at Chesterfield... ... what we needed was a midfielder to put his foot on the ball and pass it to one of our own players. Which is why I tend to agree about Burns (stands back for verbal abuse !) Recently, Burns has been decidedly below par. Granted he gets all over the pitch, but for someone with his experience, the quality has definitely been lacking. I did hope that with McPhail beside him things might improve, but on Tuesday he was just as bad ! Going back to the defence, considering our injury crisis, I think they (and Andy Ritchie) have done a tremendous job this season - Neil Austin in particular !
RE: All the defence were OK at Chesterfield... Got to agree Austin has been great this season especially to say he has played in every position along the back four
Give the lad a break - hes a midfielder by trade Not doing a bad job in hassels spot and just how old is he again?
Is he?? He doesnt look like a midfielder to me.
I am sure I have seen play in the middle and he looked clueless.

I think you will find , he has been good at Centre-half , OK at right back , and truly appalling at left-back.
Yes used to watch him in the reserves in midfield. I think I've seen him play one game this season in midfield and I thought he did well. Played in front of the back four, again not his natural place but on the whole I think he's done well and I can't agree with SM's view.
