It's pre season Mario. I was talking to a Reds fan on the way back to the Train station and we both said it was nothing to be worried about and it's all about fun. Also said we were both looking forward to seeing different grounds.....

I'm amazed with some of the comments today. There was an amazing following from the reds, they expected 200 apparently and got 700(officially 690 but there was some in the home end) Thats a plus.

IF he misses a easy chance against Crewe in a few weeks say it but don't hammer him after today.

For two years you've been raving about some of the young lads and them two most, now they're getting their chance everyone will see them for what they are, just not good enough, but you'll not back down you'll continue to defend them like you are now, they where dog ***** today like normal just admit it instead of going off like a tart making yourself look a right Bellend. Wile ever I've got a hole in my arse that Digby will never become the player you claim him to be

I'd say it is an embarrassment the way some people react to our home grown players. Overly critical. Jealousy might be the root of this I'm not sure. But it's been the same for every young kid coming through the academy in my supporting lifetime from Eaden, Watson and Liddell to Fallon, Tiler and Kay. Ability has been irrelevant it's just the same slagging off. Though it is amusing when someone in here reckons they are a better judge of a player in Digby than the England manager in his age range.

Forwards being the more glamorous side of the team have always had the most stick. they will probably drive another talented kid in Rose out of the club like they have with others sad really. He's a forward and a young lad. He will have off days and on days get used to it.

I don't know which of our younger players will make the grade. For some like RNL it's a critical season pretty much make or break. But they are pretty much going to be the corner stone of our team for the next 3 years so support them. Try and think good positive things about our young players rather than the constant carping because there is no real alternative.

In terms of talented Bree looks good will he make it into the first team regularly who knows. But like the rest he will get his turn.

That's fair enough Phil but some just don't see these young lads in the same way as you. If they show their worth once the season starts you can bump a few posts back to the top and say 'I told you so' but if they don't people will continue to criticise.

So you think it is a good idea to tear the kid apart. That's a great way to develop young talent. It was a friendly ffs.

It's hardly tearing a kid apart is it? **** me! The fact is if it was a new signing or Kennedy you would have been having a pop aswell. I'm fully aware that it's a friendly, maybe a lack of match practice was to blame, who knows? There was a lot of fans saying the same about him, the talents clearly there he just had a really really bad game.

********. The home grown players get the same stick as everyone else but some people pretend they get it worse.

Kennedy wiseman mellis proswich shea frimpong and even hassell have had a lot more stick than the home grown players you mentioned But we can pretend that never happened and that the home grown players are bullied by the fans.

Theres only one set of people who have treated our academy players like **** and thst is the club who in the years since cryne took over has refused to give them a chance, instead playing kids from every other club in the country while ours rot in the stands.

Calm down ffs. I don't know any of you on here ....nor do I know Hemsworth. However he makes some valid points. If we,re going with the young lads then we ned to be patient and not be openly over critical. Football is no different to anything else. People need to be given a chance to show what they can do. They need our support. Danny needs our patience and we need to show that we will be patient as he tries to pick this thing by the scruff of the neck, give it a good fookin shake and take us forward. We must not write players off before they have been given an opportunity .

People also need to remember that certain players are over critical on themselves.

Danny Rose is one of them at times he expects to score every shot he and he puts is head down at times when he doesn't. Some of the shots he might have hit the bar/post and not even had a right of getting it close really but hes a born goalscorer it seems he expects.

People might not have known that but getting on at him aswell then it'll not help.

Double ********. The bloke next to me used to spend entire games assassinating Eaden and Liddell. Far worse players were kicking round. The younger players are always over criticised it's one of the worst things about being a Barnsley fan.

    This.

The group of lads I used to go with spent entire seasons ripping Eaden, Moses, Liddell etc to shreds. They had to perform heroics to get faint praise yet every single poor pass or missed chance was jeered and abused. World class stars like Sheron, Thomas and Nardiello could do nothing wrong. Ever.

Some fans are most definitely an embarrassment Phil yes.

In fact most fans will say or do things on the odd occasion that some wouldn't agree is useful, emotions, opinions, etc.

There's less folk that do such things on more than the odd occasion though. Even fewer have a long history of antagonising intentionally and singling out undeserving players for hateful comments on a regular basis.

So whilst there's more than an element of truth in your point, something I won't deny, the very fact it's you getting on your high horse about it isn't just ironic, it's downright fecking hilarious.
