Forgot to mention, his Mrs was stood up for longer than I was shuffling along the line to go for a piss in the first half. And no, I didn't threaten to knock her out for it when she blocked my view clambering over the seat next to me and trundling down the stairs.
On the other hand the space between rows was particularly narrow in that stand , it was fortunate that we had a spare seat next to our kid who had to sit sideways on to get his legs in , we were stood up for the first 10 mins of the game , no problems from anyone
Yeah now that WA funny !!! Forgot to mention her aggressive fella apologised to the 2 small kids once it had boiled over - probably dint fancy taking on their much bigger dad!!
I had to hold back from saying owt! Haha didn't see the apology, I just stayed out of the way for the rest of the game.
This does annoy me. There were a couple of groups of lads sat next to us at Wembley, about eight in total, and every single one of them went by in both the first and second half.
Not being funny but people not saying anything doesn't necessarily equate to people being happy about it and able to see. There were no problems for you but you could have been a problem for others. I'm not saying you definitely were but silence might not mean that it was ok.
People don't sit down and sing, that's why. You either have a good atmosphere and people standing up or little/no atmosphere and people sitting down. If you go to an away game that's close by and we take a large following then chances are everyone will be sat down as the percentage of people that want to stand up and sing is lower. That's not always going to be the case at every away game though. I much prefer standing up at away games. Walsall and Fleetwood (cup more so than league) were fantastic atmospheres and gave the team a real boost. However, if the general consensus is this is a sitting down away match then I'm fine with that and will sit down.
Sorry, I have to disagree; if it is seated area, use your arse to sit on the seat provided. If you stand up, you are using your arse to talk out of.
It's hard to disagree with the fact that atmosphere at football grounds as all but died out after the introduction of all seater stadiums and the only singing gets down by people standing up ( on the whole). I'd agree that people who want to sit should be allowed to do so without people standing. At the same time those who want to stand and create an atmosphere should have safe standing areas supplied and be treated equally. There is no reason other than institutionalised prejudice why safe standing still not being widely rolled out and would solve all these issues in an instant.
Re: Not just our fans Hi Prince. I know you said that tongue in cheek, but I wasn't complaining in my post. The people in front of me were stood up throughout the whole game, which meant that we (myself and my two young boys) had to stand as well. My slowness in standing up at the beginning of the second half meant that I missed Ipswich's first goal.
It's a football game. I go expecting to be up and down like a yo-yo. Not once have I felt the need to threaten someone because of it.
Best thing for the majority of the fans on this thread is simply do not go. Your not going to the opera, its a football match where people get to their feet at certain points of the game, if I had my way everyone would be standing the whole game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So if you had your way, the elderly, the infirm and the disabled supporters would lose out. The word selfish springs to mind...
Best thing for the some of the fans on this thread is simply do not go. You're going to a seated area, it's not hard to realise if there is a seat there you are meant to sit in it.
