My mate is a walsall fan , i asked him about Clarke when he signed, what was he like etc, he got it to a tee YT he blames everybody but himself, we have used 6 different starting formations in 10 league games not including in game changes no wonder the team dont know what they are doing.
The world has around seven billion people. I'm sure we could find one person with enough cash to run us better.
And therein lies the problem, who on earth is going to buy Barnsley Fc? So currently we are where we are & things aren’t going to get better beyond league 1 mediocrity unless we drop on a world beater manager who can get an average squad of players playing beyond their abilities. That’s just the sad truth, we can’t compete anymore, not in the championship. The premier league is a pipe dream for us now. & that is fine, I accept that, but it’s not for me. I can’t get enthused about football in general if we can’t aim to play at the highest level possible, well we are currently at the highest level possible for us right now. The only way I can get any enthusiasm back is the matchday experience is better, the stadium is a more pleasant place to visit, with decent facilities. Hopefully that happens in the near future, & then the playing side of things need to improve in terms of style of play & an actual plan. We might lose more, but if I can see us actually trying to work towards something, then I might get that excitement back.
Agree with most of that, although I still think that our squad, while unbalanced, should have more than enough quality to at least look competent at this level.
I looked at the starting lineup today. It was horribly wrong. I think the squad is lacking in certain respects, but we are not learning anything. Cosgrove, oh my god. Worst centre forward ever, but he persists with him. Two holding midfielders, who can't find a forward pass. Play your most attacking wing back in a back 4, so he can't get forward as much. No idea as to what the plan is. We are mid table. For me a fair reflection on the season so far.
But the arguement used to defend the monstrous excess in players wages is that a footballers career is 10 to 15 years max so they have to make enough money in this 10 to 15 years to cover the rest of their lives. Which is basically ******** because a large part of the population have to have at least one career change during their working lives I've had three and managed to survive.
A lot of sense spoken there. Might be a controversial opinion but whoever’s decision it was to start the season with one left wing back who had only played 20 odd appearances in his career up to now should be sacked. If that’s Mladen then he’s not to fit to do the job. I don’t care how harsh that sounds. It can only be excused if the club was in dire straits financially but we know that’s not the case with the amount of midfielders we’ve signed.
It's about what the Prime Minister gets. Then again the PM also gets add ons courtesy of his or her wealthy 'friends'. In part we as consumers are responsible for the fact that elite athletes and entertainers are, by most people's standards, fabulously wealthy whereas a Doctor, arguably far more important to society is paid a fraction of what those sports people and entertainers get.
Dya know what? I’ll admit I don’t have a clue, & to be honest I’m just saying what makes me feel better at the situation, the owners & their model is where I’m directing my anger; not the management team or the players. So I’ll welcome any scenario where the current owners are no more (apart from death obviously). Until then I’m voting with my feet.
Having read these posts, yes blame can be accredited to the manager, board and recruitment team, but I do feel that the players do need to look at themselves because their performances this season with 1 or 2 exceptions have been well below par. Their ability of known skillful players unable to execute a simple pass to a team mate yesterday was embarrassing. DC can set them up but it is down to the players to perform in a professional manner once they have crossed the white line. Luca, our captain bless him, is going backwards in his performances. Sam Cosgrove whom I have been a supporter of, played well in the play off games but this season has also regressed among others. Yesterday the only thing that stood out was our kit. Less words and more actions are needed otherwise we could be looking at another season next year in league one. COYR !!
an ex pro should’ve got Mladens job according to him , but he felt players should be scouted/viewed to back up the stats - which he was prepared to do DC got the gig as he could work with a low budget in the bottom 2 divisions all allegedly of course
Wait………are you saying we don’t scout players in person we identify with data currently - that can’t be correct?
