he was pushed into it by the government they picked the time place and the tactics, they made sure there was enough coal stock piled and the brilliant tactic of letting people buy there houses so they were up to the knackers in debt, he was forced into it but also backed his self into a corner by not re-balloting the members nationally, the government went out to smash the trade unions so picked on the biggest/most militant leader they could and sadly my mates, my community were just collateral damage to them, and before you ask my granddad, father ,and me are/were all ex miners

this is what I'm trying to get across, don't you think that was bad advice, best move from bank end mr scargill to a detached bungalow in a more affluent area of Barnsley for security reasons, I'm sure the nation will understand, oh and while your at it put this egg under your cap. he was played by every govt agency there was and sadly his members suffered and still are

a national ballot would have been completely irrelevant in my eyes. The scabs in notts, leicster and derbys would still have been shipped into work by the government. The tories would have changed legislation before lose.
everyman to their own opinion on this I suppose, but scargill has only been blamed for the demise of the industry since it was obliterated. The tories and the media behind them have successfully(with some) managed to blame scargill for the pit closures.i cant for the life of me remember scargill being blamed for the closures in the following years after the strike, its only since we've been left without any industry at all.
if scargill was the reason, why did the udm notts pits close?,i'll tell you why, because they were part of the 70's strikes that destroyed the tory government,84 was payback, and it wouldn't have mattered if the fcukin pope had been our president, they'd have still shut the industry down.

Not sure you shoud ignore advice protecting your family tbh
But gretrex and lynk moved for the very same reasons into very affluent places in their area and nothing was reported ,plus gretrex had only been an official at branch level not the national president.
But do you honestly think if we had not taken action the tories would ave pitied us and things would have been different?
The only way things would have turned out different is if those scabby bstds in nott's had supported the rest of the British miners

no I don't they were out to break the union, but it had already been done by the notts miners what I'm saying is if there had been a further ballot and every member was out it would have at least strengthend the bargain position. divide and conquer

Were you in the industry when we had a national ballot on the incentive scheme and rejected it with a massive majority so the scabby nott's miners went alone ignoring the national ballot. That don't get reported so much, wonder why?

Funny thing about our country today , we were on strike for a year and relied on food parcels now modern day uk people in full time work depend on food parcels

scabs didn't come out because the government told them their was no hit list and that their pits were safe and there was nothing to worry about,a ballot would not have changed anything.
I was with the notts miners in 1992-3 when the 30 odd pit closure was announced, all of them regretted not supporting the strike.
just remember they did ballot and they voted to work, they didn't give a **** about the rest of us,i'm alright jack...look where it got them, pits gone, communities shattered, even those scabby b@sterds don't blame scargill.

plenty of ex forces at the pit, many said it was the only place that ever came close to the camaraderie they'd experienced before.when I was driving a LH1300 my spotter was an ex para,we got on like a house on fire,

it was because no matter what you depended on the guy at your side even if you'd been knocking lumps out of each other a couple of days before hand, my point is scargill was not the hero some people like to make out and at the end of the day he didn't do so bad out of the strike

Thats your opinion which your entitled to but my point is that too much emphasis was put it into Scargill bashing especially from the Tory media barons etc that what was happening to the industry and the real rapers and pillages was under the radar because they had made a hate figure of him and people were more concerned with having a go at Scargill, establishments trojan horse. Unbelievable imo
