I think the academy thing is a bit of a red herring, who's going to come through when we'd rather recruit non-discripts from 3rd and 4th rate foreign leagues.

In the last 10 seasons it has taken 49.2 points on average to finish 20th or above excluding covid season that was suspended. On 5 out of the other 9 seasons clubs have needed 50 points or above to stay up. I would be confident of staying up on 53 points. Wish I had your crystal ball fella

Get some work out of them. I remember Hill as manager and most fans disliked him , but yet he got vaz te purring where other better managers had failed, some players play for some managers, so I reckon we change this one before it's too late because no one is purring

He definitely got them up for yesterday’s game. We were really good for the first 20 minutes or so & were winning most of the 50-50’s.

His game management was shocking yesterday but to say he didn’t get them up for the game is completely unfair.

Isn't sormaz supposed to be an analytical and recruitment specialist before he came to barnsley but he's in charge of all football activities at the club he's not done a very good job at barnsley with recruitment

Not so sure about stead, I'm keeping powder dry there. But Devaney.. just stands there arm's folded with a "nowt to do with me gov" stance. Of course it's to do with him he takes a wage off the club.. Or is he like Bobby Hassell and beyond criticism.? Why are we getting young loans in when we've had an academy for 30 years please?

We all know why because those coming through our acadamy are nowhere near..
A lot more than Clarke wrong at Oakwell

My opinion is that Clarke Won't play our own young uns. It has taken him 3 weeks to give young Dyer 7 or 8 minutes yesterday, when we have no one else, thanks to our brilliant non existent board

I don’t blame him , they offered him the job and it was a step up for him , which he hasn’t made so far , he’s inconsistent as are the players . In the last two games we’ve had two decent halves against top 6 clubs , but we’ve had two shocking halves which have cost us and it’s Clarkes management that has done that who takes a short free kick with no defenders back to cover , that’s not the Owners that’s Clarke

And in the 30 years that academy has produced one exceptional player and a few decent ones I'd argue that the system we had in place before the academy produced more first team players than the current set up does and for a fraction of the price. IMHO the academy as failed in it's mission which is to produce first team players for Barnsley FC now that could be because we've had a string of managers who haven't been prepared to give the youngsters a chance at Barnsley but you have to ask why that is do these managers see a weakness in the academy. I think Mr Hassel needs to be asked some serious questions about why our kids never seem ready for the first team Jalo being a prime example.

Tbf to the academy, I think it was in a poor state for quite some time but in the last couple of years there has been significant improvement in terms of teams playing at higher levels, winning tournaments and players representing their countries at youth levels. You would expect a return on that in the next 2-3 years. Of course whether any of these players transition to the first team is not helped by constant changes of managers and filling the squad with poor signings from other clubs

Jesus. After the run the first team are enduring, and the window just gone, Bobby Hassell is getting criticised.

    Make it make sense.

Totally agree with them going and the academy is a waste of money and draining the funds

We should be looking at producing our own players and not producing for Gainsborough, Bradford Park Ave, Matlock, etc.... etc..... Not one academy player anywhere near good enough for years and years including Jalo. Hassell and team cannot Identify the future bfc players. What a waste of money

None are good enough including Dyer, that's why he put left back on up front last week

Where are the first teamers from the academy either the players ain't good enough or the academy manager and coaching staff aren't getting them into the minds of the first team coaching staff. Surely it's part of Hassels job to be in the head coaches ear telling him he should be looking at players X,Y and Z and if he genuinely thinks the players are ready and good enough calling the head coach out. Do you honestly think the academy is producing the goods for Barnsley FC is it value for money. It like the rest of the club seems to be going backwards.
