    RE: That's the problem Acky

heh, Where to start.........erm.... I believe everyone has to be sceptical of anyone who wields power, especially when its you who is on the receiving end of it. Its about empowering people and getting them believe that they are capable of making decisions that affect their own lives without the aid of some half baked career politician who thinks they know what's best.

As a brief example - instead of tackling crime with DNA evidence, why not go to the root of the problem and tackle poverty and deprivation - I dont see upper class kids stealing and burning cars so this should tell us something about the nature of the problem. Campaign for more community, youth and social clubs. Get the kids off the streets, get them doing something positive and that way they will stand more of a chance of avoiding a life of crime. Other countries manage to tackle these and other issues better than we do, so there's no reason to think it cant be done.

You either stnad on your own two feet or you simply go along with whatever is suggested - to do so does not make you nor anyone else free, you simply trap yourself in a prison of your own making. Democracies only work if the people within them have a say and are heard, if you aren't heard or dont demand to be heard then you've simply tossed away your rights to the kind of life you want and your life is subject to other peoples choices.

Apologies for the quote but I think this says much about politics and how governments and marketing and newspapers work these days,

Is this making any sense? Its hard to explain something I believe in after 4 years of reading and thinking about it and trying to get the point across.........i try and no doubt im 'trying' but hey...

Sounds like an extract from Thatchers manifesto - enpowering people, standing on your own two feet etc.

Except Thatchers manifesto involved flipping over communities and then giving them no support and that's not what Im talking about.

    Well well well

leaving my murdered virtual wife out of it for a bit. Until the rigomortis sets in anyway, I'm amazed how many people would willingly allow themselves to become the property of the Govt.

And as for that load of absolute ***** about just in case someone breaks in etc, well, let's electronically tag everyone so their movements can be monitored 24/7. Just in case. eh ? ffs x 10.

I think that sums up the rational response quite well...

every freedom we give up for the sake of the collective good carries a risk

e.g. we allow policemen to lock us up

Its a question of balnce and for me the DNA argument just like logging fingerprints is a step too far

So if Thatcher had brought the warehouse jobs in you'd be on all fours with her?

    Enduring image.
