Using Philips logic that the more trophies you win the better the player dictates that wes brown is a better defender than donkey Adams.
ESL so Gerrard didnt score one of liverpools most important goals in liverpool last 20 years in champ league and is goal in Fa cup final vs weat ham. Wasnt gerrard second or third on balon dor. Take a look at english pfa winners. Gerrards won that.which says he was the best in prem that season. Any top player would be on it, hes not hmmmmmmmmmmm.
] Zinedine Zidane said in 2009 that he considers Gerrard one of the best footballers in the world. [7] In 2010, The Guardian named Gerrard to their World XI team, which compiled the greatest footballers of all-time onto one squad. not bad for a avg foottballer hey esl. ZZ Comments.
HT, you should do everyone a favour a read what is being said. Football has changed immeasurably over the past 20 years. Prior to the Premier League (which you obviously won't remember) football was played on god awful pitches, in front of working class folk who wanted nothing more than to see a few local lads do well and have a drink with their mates. Football was a social occassion, where ordinary people want to sing their hearts out with the friends. Football now is about making money by exploiting families into parting with their hard earned cash. Before people like Gazza came along the average joe had absolutely no interest in football, because it was a working class, male orientated game. However, his character and ability attracted a lot of people with a passing interest (and a bit of cash) to become interested in football. It was only after the inception of the PL that teams started following the american model of creating fanbases (families are far more likely to spend money at football matches than individuals - so they started attracting whole families). Now football is on TV far too much, it's all about winning, the fans can't identify with the players and complete morons think they know what's going on in the game because they same an episode of Revista La Liga on skysports1. The point is, numerous players could have had a glittering career but for one reason or another didn't. You can't say that Gazza achieved less than Darren Fletcher just because Fletcher has won x amount of league titles - most of which he played a bit part. Gazza played in various leagues around the world, all with great success. The opportunity for Gazza to win the European Cup never materialised, so how can you say he didn't achieve it? Stones, Clark, Rose etc will obviously say Rooney's goal is the best they've ever seen - because they didn't see any of the much better goals before. In the same way that young kids call a glaring miss "a Torres", I still call it "a Rosenthal". Get off your high horse and listen to the folk that have actually witnessed the game change, probably for the worse.
How many people have agreed with you in this thread? Are you waiting for someone to say you are correct? You will be in for a long wait. You use goals as a stat to make them look like a better player. On that basis what percentage of goals were penalties? Show me something on a consistant basis of an English midfielder picking the ball up in the middle of the park and and rather than go for the easy option pass he burst through a couple of tackles and takes people on using skill and then creates a goal or scores himself. I'll give you all weekend to come back to me on that one.
bad example there fella, watched a bit of liverpool tv last night and they said darren flec was a very important player for man u and say how he always plays well and that was from liverpool people.
So just to clarify, are you saying that because someone from Liverpool said that Darren Fletcher would be missed by Man Utd that he is a better player than Gazza was? Btw, Xavi has said the player he idolised when growing up was none other than Matt Le Tissier. Therefore, with your logic it must be that Matt Le Tissier is one of the greatest ever players. That correct?
You are really beginning to scare me now. Remain logged on and keep posting until someone agrees with you. When that happens have you won?
Your wasting your time mate, HT really does live in another world to everyone else.....he just doesn't get it...save your breath.
But he specifically picked out Matt Le Tissier: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...ys-his-football-hero-was-Matt-Le-Tissier.html So with your logic that makes him the best playmaker in the world. You don't seem capable of forming your own opinions, you just spout stats and quotes from sky sports without any thought for why commentators etc talk up players in the way they do. How on earth would sky sports drum up interest in Man Utd v Wigan on TV without claiming that Rooney is one of the best ever players? They're not going to say he's ***** are they? You are like a very poorly educated of Good Will Hunting. In the words of Robin Williams in the film: "So if I asked you about art, you'd probably give me the skinny on every art book ever written. Michelangelo, you know a lot about him. Life's work, political aspirations, him and the pope, sexual orientations, the whole works, right? But I'll bet you can't tell me what it smells like in the Sistine Chapel. You've never actually stood there and looked up at that beautiful ceiling; seen that. If I ask you about women, you'd probably give me a syllabus about your personal favorites. You may have even been laid a few times. But you can't tell me what it feels like to wake up next to a woman and feel truly happy".
Deetee not sure what your problem is. all sports people are obsessed with winning and money. Thats what makes them focused. doesnt matter who it is. seb vettel or hamilton djokoviic or nadal xavi, rooney or messi luke donald or tiger woods. woods said like week I WANT TO WIN THINGS AGAIN. so on and so on with american sports.
