It’s no surprise this we historically don’t play well at lords, no red ball cricket for many of these players since the last test. SA are a quality side right now too, 4 very good pace bowlers, 2 good spinners and solid batsmen. having said that we should be capable of batting better in these conditions. We could learn a thing or two from them
Spineless performance. The same culprits. There are some players with the hearts of peas. They might have had some decent knocks dotted about. However, they're still spineless. A total changing of the guard is needed. The openers aren't good enough. The middle order have no back bone and the bowling attack is ineffective.
With half a day left today and losing most of the first day to rain, we've lost in around a day and a half.
If there's a silver lining in this just think about how much money the MCC/ECB have lost from it not making it to the weekend. They'll have to have a 50 ball competition next year to make up for it.
Like I said. This might be a blessing selection wise because the ECB have lost their best two days cricket money wise. It might make them pick a better team with less flaky players. It's them where it hurts. In the pocket.
We last played SA 3 winters ago and comprehensibly beat them 3-0…. in their country as well. How things have changed since !!!!!
Yeah I think Burns got injured. Then lost his form. That opened the door for Crawley. They need to tear it up and start from scratch building towards the Ashes. If it means taking a few hidings so be it. We need a new bowling attack and the back of some players for good. I think Stokes will be laughing his **** off now he's got captaincy. Poor man's Botham.
On your last point, it was a bit concerning seeing Stokes and Broad laughing after flukey shots from Broad. One occasion is acceptable but they seemed to be treating it like a joke for most of the time. We don’t think it was funny watching such a display
Surprised that South Africa made a bowling change after beating us in around six sessions. Just as surprised they actually chose to bat first in overcast Old Trafford conditions. Shame for Robinson to get a wicket off a no ball. After being stumped I would say stepping over the line is the next poorest thing you can do.
Agree 100%. The Hundred is a massive part of this problem. As is pissing about having 6 20:20 games and 7 ODIs in the middle of the summer so there's no test cricket played between the first weekend of July and the third week of August. That said, we're not doing too bad so far today...
