He was good playing for us. Raw but good. I guess like John Stones we didn't see the best of him but he still made an impression.

Tommy Taylor after Aylott and Ward? Neither, inspite of their many qualities were fit to lace Tommy's boots. 159 goals at Club level in just 237 appearances. 16 goals in 19 appearances for England. Admittedly he only played 44 games for us but Danny Blanchflower played just 24 more so neither, although they went on to grace the game at the highest level played 100 games for Barnsley. The Real Madrid legend, Alfredo di Stefano, dubbed Tommy the greatest centre forward he had seen. Not bad for a lad from Smithies!!

Crikey, could probably do three teams going with who has been left out. I'm selecting from 1980, the first season of me watching them and I think adhering to the 100 appearances thing. We've not had many strikers who I'd class as legends who have stayed long enough to make 100 appearances.

    Baker
    Eaden
    McCarthy
    Futcher
    Barnard
    Banks
    Glavin
    Hourihane
    Redfearn
    Aylott
    Currie

(I really wanted to include Brendan O'Connell in here, definitely a sub).

Not sure about the 100 games but that would be the best team ever.
