RE: Do you think so? At Wembley yes noticed that, but a one off. In general I reckon he is a battler and doesn't give up. But hey ho, you know me, I think Martin Devaney is a right back
Is he a roofer? Get editing Mark! Don't agree - I like him and always will. Like his attitude and his spirit. He gets too much personal abuse on here, regardless of his ability, or lack of it.
This thread isn't about crapness It's about bottlers. I never abuse Barnsley players regardless of their ability (apart from M Sheron which, as you say, was compulsory). What's the point? Anyway it is difficult to discuss this properly because it takes about 10 minutes to post anything tonight for some reason.
My opinion of Odejayi He's built like a God. He's big, strong, fast, agile and I wish I was so blessed. Because of that he's going to have the occasional good game where his physical superiority gets him through. But he just hasn't got a footballers mind. He doesn't react quick enough, his anticipation skills are awful and as a result he's always that split second off the pace. That's not to say he's thick. He's clearly not. He comes across as an intelligent, articulate bloke. Anyway, intelligence has nob all to do with it. Gazza's lack of it is legendary, but on the pitch he's as sharp as a tack. Odejayi is missing that something that all great players have. On top of that his confidence is as fragile as glass. His head goes down and he just stops putting in the effort. It's happened time and again. The lad is never going to make it.
Don Fox didn't bottle it! Don Fox didn't bottle it, there are 2 options, 1) the weather was the worst that any sporting event has been played in,except Henley or Cowes, the pitch was inches deep in water in places. 2)Rumour has it that Don owned a betting shop and stood to lose a lot of money if Trinity won, having beaten Leeds 33-0 just prior to the final, they were red hot favourites. I subscribe to the first theory!!
Henman was a player who did his best but unfortunately there were always acouple of players better than him. He was not a bottler.

The conept of being a 'bottler' has been misunderstood. A guy goes on to the diving board at his local pool. He dives and ends up doing a dismal belly-flop. he's no bottler. Another guy goes up to the diving board, walks to the end, is overcome by fear and walks off the board. That dear reader is an example of bottling it. zet
Does anyone know the name of the golfer who lost out to Jack Nicklaus in 1970 Open Might be Bob Charles??
Doug Sanders...... He missed a 3ft putt on the 18th at St Andrews to win the Open and then blew it again on the same green in an 18 hole play off the next day. Golfs had some big time bottlers over the years. Greg Norman throwing away a 6 shot lead in the last round of the Masters and Jean Van de Velde who threw away a 2 shot lead on the last hole of the Open to win to mention just 2.
Exactly, very nearly and really had a great opportunity to do so (to be fair i'm basing most of my thoughts on him of that fight). Really ought to have beat him then, but just as he had him, backed off and let Iron Mike back in.
But you also back up my thoughts on Bruno with that in a way. Mark says about 1 title - 1 title doesn't make a boxer. 1 who could have won more.
Is it me, or..... People in this thread keep mentioning sports people who are crap at something, or made a mistake etc. What has that got to do with being a bottler? Zetland was spot on.
Jimmy White as fantastic a snooker player he was, always bottled it when it come to the World Championship Final.
Errrrrrr.....thinking about it........... You may have a point, but for example, the guy with the simple rugby kick who fluffed it. I would have thought that if he asked someone else to take it because he couldn't stand the pressure, that would be bottling. So the fact that he took it shows that actually he had the bottle to attempt it under pressure, regardless of whether he messed it up or not. The same can be said of people who miss penalties in penalty shoot-outs. They are not bottlers. The ones standing in the centre circle, not daring to look - they are the bottlers (well either that or they are just crap at penalties).
RE: Doug Sanders...... No idea about the TV show but he did say in an interview when asked if it had ruined his golfing life "No, I only think about it every 20 minutes these days!!"
