If i dont get a birthday card or a present from every single person who knows me when it is my birthday then i will blank you.
The players had 4 weeks to respond after the initial letters were sent out so we should hopefully here some news this week. Obviously players like Scotland, Mcnulty, Kennedy accepted quite quickly because there was little negotiation involved. Maybe the more 'in demand' players are taking a bit longer. For example, Cranie has probably had offers from other clubs, so his agent will know doubt be re-negotiating with us trying to improve the original offer because 'interested club/s' can offer him more. Luke Steele wants to play in the premier league, so his agent will use as much time as possible to try and flog him to a premier league club or a promotion chasing Championship team. Bobby's agent could be trying to negotiate less of a pay cut. Cywka's agent could be waiting to see if other clubs come in with similar money but maybe offer him regular first team football. Maybe Kelvin is just on a really long holiday in Marbella, and instead of sending the contract out to Marbella, where it could get eaten by Amy Childs, we are waiting until he fly's back this Friday, so he can sign his extension/new contract at Oakwell. Have i missed anyone?
So would it still be ok if players like I don't know lets say Luke Steele and Bobby Hassell had been away playing under 21 football?
As long as they let us know by the 30th of June when the previous deals run out I can't see an issue. This isn't FIFA or football manager, it's the real world where players have families, go on holidays & have to make as much money as possible in a short career that can end at any moment.
