PR by itself would be awful. A bunch of fringe weirdos welding a disproportionate amount of power by playing kingmaker. Can't imagine casting a vote for a party without knowing what deals they'd make to gain power. Also takes the personal accountability from MPs as they aren't responsible directly to voters only the party. I could see an argument for replacing the Lords with a chamber elected using PR and giving them additional powers to scrutinise or introduce bills, but the Commons should retain primacy.

 

Reform 2 points behind Tories on latest You Gov poll. BBC on Friday will be much more interesting than ITV debate. Farage, Raynor and Mordeant among them.

It feels more likely we're moving towards more far right ideologies, far left seems a very small minority indeed. As for a labour conference PR motion, I couldn't tell you, its not something I follow.... But if so, that may likely have been due to them only having 200 seats at the time. If they get a majority but attain less than 50% vote share (which is pretty likely), the chances of PR are around the realms of nil.

 

It is incorrect to say no WMDs were found. A total of around 5,000 chemical weapons were found in Iraq by American and British troops. It is correct to say that there was no ongoing program to create WMDs and the majority that were found dated back to the 80s - over 20 soldiers and Iraqi police were injured by them. There is a question over how many of them were sold by or built with the assistance of the British and Americans during the Iran/Iraq war.

Depends partly on how the previous poster defines 'stockpile' and whether or not there would have been greater western unity and UN partipation had (Hans Blix - I think it was him) been given more time and resources to investigate.

Kinnock's lead peaked at 7pts just prior to the election, and Major's personal polling was still positive, relative to his party.

Starmer's lead is currently averaging 20pts+, and Sunak's personal polling is as bad as his party's.

The pounds been **** since 2008 no matter who gets in power I can't see it ever been as strong as I remember it once been.
