Similarly as others have said, they weren’t expected to get anything tonight and they haven’t. Spending the money often goes a long way but it’s not always a sure thing. Fulham spent a lot last summer and went down looking shocking. I can see Villa doing something similar this season. Pretty sure Norwich didn’t spend much last season either did they? Worked out okay then. Premier league is a different kettle of fish though I guess.
Don't think you can really count friendlies as a marker. You can't put City into a comparison with Leeds and Burton - different ball park completely.
I'll watch Villa with interest this season to see how their new £10m and £15m midfield imports get on.. I'll wager it'll take until March for them to realise Conor was better all along.
I honestly don't think they'll give him a second thought other than maybe early rounds of the cups. They only gave him a new contract to make him worth more in January... As much as everyone seems to think he is, he ain't prem quality I'm afraid.
Reading it back I don't think it was - you put together two teams from opposite league. Liverpool and Norwich are in the same league now - Norwich were class in their own division last year - gaps now between Premier league and football league are growing
Well against Leipzig he helped them win and scored twice playing the full game. He can't have done more to be deserving of a start tomorrow. Hope he gets it. https://astonvillacentral.com/match/rb-leipzig-vs-aston-villa-20190803/
Only time I've ever been on the Kop, Liverpool v Norwich, I think they lost by four goals then enall. Not a patch on the League Cup night though. For some reason I couldn't get a ticket for the FA Cup match
The gulf between the top few and the rest is now almost unbridgeable. People touting the Premier League as being the best in the world where anybody can beat anybody...rubbish. Another procession due of Liverpool and City winning week in week out.
