Has Boris’s dad been on yet saying if I want to go to the pub I’ll go to the pub ? It’s like watching the Darling Buds of May with pop larkin wooing the tax man and shoving him into his daughter .
It's a lot of hoo-ha and dicking about just to say carry on as you were and by the way, you can buy creosote, trellis and whatnot. I am guessing they have had a turn around in thinking compared to what they were going to announce.
Except for when those elderly need to go out shopping or their carers are coming and going. Meanwhile our armed forces sit idle. Get them into care homes, have then doing good and medical deliveries whilst taking precautions, create bubbles around the elderly and protect those at higher risk. Or you know, have them say in the barracks twiddling their thumbs while jobs, homes and lives are thrown away
Pre recorded speech. No chance for cobra committee or the cabinet to scrutinize anything in it. Dominic Cummins running the whole sh1tshow.
They don't have to be care workers. This is a national emergency and we should be asking them to help out. And I'm pretty sure there aren't many of them who wouldn't have their hand in the air within seconds. Why are you so against adding additional protection for the elderly? It makes absolutely no sense.
without wishing to argue (is that passive aggressive I do t know, do I want an argument!) could you point me to where your research was done that the armed forces are all sat idle? asking for a friend.
I can categorically state that the military are not sitting about twiddling their thumbs. There are 20000 of them supporting COVID19 and we continue to support operations overseas. I have never been busier than I am now and whilst I am working from home, I still work from 8-5 every day on my laptop and I know everyone else I work with is doing the same. It may also be worth noting that there is a high number of military personnel self isolation due to either themselves or family having Coronavirus.
I'm sure they are working. I'm against your push for lockdown restrictions to be prematurely lifted yes.
We have just under 200,000 people available to our armed forces don't we? Ten percent supporting our national emergency is not enough imo and that is nothing against the armed forces, it's everything to do with UK government priorities.
You are against any alternative though that's my point. Simple question. Which protects an 80 year old most? 1. Locking down the entire country but also allowing and necessitating that the 80 year old has to mix with people at Tesco to get food? 2. Allowing 20 year olds to work but ensuring that the 80 year old has everything she needs delivered to her door via safe and secure methods? Why is 1 the only possible solution and 2 such an outrageous thing to suggest that anyone who does must 'want death' as so many on here have said?
Wow. The leader of our country doesn't trust himself to give a live performance! I wonder if his speech was filmed in a fridge?
There are currently 147,000 regular personnel in the armed forces, the rest are reservists. We still have operations to do overseas and from the UK. The Russians test our airspace every single day and we scramble aircraft to intercept and monitor. These are roles that are still required and require personnel to carry them out. Now would be an ideal time for the Russians or other governments to test our capabilities, and they do.
If it's a statement rather than a press conference why does anyone care if it's live or not? I think people are so entrenched in their hatred for him that they are now focusing on completely the wrong things. I would argue that waiting to hear what the statement is would be wise before criticising the method in which it's given.
So other than the 20,000 currently helping the covid fight their is no capacity to help out further? That is a damning indictment on the state of our armed forces.
