Exactly this, couldn't agree more. Same applies to players too I think. It's the era of instant success or get rid.

I've had to chuckle this morning listening to the fall out from Tottenham's match last night. Must be awful being in the top four, playing in Europe, huge new stadium. I know it's relative to the club you support, but they haven't got a bloody clue. Best manager they've had in years and they suddenly have the sense of entitlement to constant success.

I want Stendel to remain at Barnsley for a while, irrespective of what happened this season. We've done the rinse and repeat for the best part of 20 years, and here we are again.

Don't you feel demoralised trudging back up hill after watching us lose? I know I do. I also remember a time when the club still didn't spend beyond it's means and we won more than we lost at home in the Championship.

I don't disagree with that in the main, it's hard work watching us being defeated week in week out, and there was a time I did concur with your last sentence, but that was in a time (80s and 90s) where the financial differentials between the so called bigger clubs and us wasn't as great as it is now. We could compete relatively well on both transfer fees and wages back then, signing Redfearn, Currie, Hendrie, Wilkinson, that calibre of pro.

It's hard to say whether our current budget is a choice or a necessity in terms of how the club wants to run, but to even achieve mid table mediocrity, in my opinion, would cost millions more than we can sustain.

But yes, as a supporter, I long to see better than what we have done so far this season.

I remember when Man City were in the third division and Chelsea the second division. Also, Bournemouth in the fourth.
I used to be able to get a pint for just over a quid too.

Money talks definitely. I don't think the plan will ever work though.
