Both Luton and Charlton signed some experience... would not think their budgets were a million miles from ours..
Didn't Luton make 10m off only 2 players? I wouldn't have fancied signing back our old players either. Charlton's are all on loan barring one player, loans have kept us treading water in the past 10 years then the inevitable happens.
Cranie aside, I wouldn’t have wanted any of Luton’s ‘experienced’ signings. Hemed is a good signing for Charlton, likely to be out of our wage bracket, and all their other signings are loans. I wouldn’t make much of teams standings at this stage of the season. There’s a long time to go, a lot could, and will change.
Think they need an experienced British manager - they are in a hole at the moment and need to fight their way out
Adkins has come in at 4/9 on with sky bet. https://m.skybet.com/football/manager-specials/event/24473230
Can admin make this a sticky? Save us a lot of time continually having to explain it again and again that we sold players who lined up moves for more money then we can pay or refused to sign new contracts.
Would they have identified the same players as Daniel? See the posts above regarding Luton and Charltons signings.
Exactly. Can't understand how people get so attached to players/managers/coaches. Football has to be the most transient business going. If anybody's here for as long as 2 seasons these days they're considered a long-term employee!
Daniel has been a breath of fresh air to this club. I'm not expecting him to be here long term but I'm hoping he can get us used to this division and put in some groundwork that others can continue. Personality wise I think he'll be a big loss, at least initially.
Yes I agree with you re : Stendel on a personal level. I'm talking more about the nature of the football business. It's inevitable that people move on,usually fairly quickly and for more money,so I tend not to get too attached to any individual as long as there's always a club to support.
Would love him to stay Helen. But I believe a new contract is on the table. My personal opinion he hasn’t signed and it’s a little bit vague and the fact that I’m not sure anyone knows for definite. He could have it written in. that if another club comes in he could talk to them.( eg Steve Bruce) But the fact he and his family have not made a temporary or permanent move to this country would lead me to believe he would take a job back in Germany if one arose. The only person in control of that his himself. And who would begrudge him that. Why worry about something you cannot control. (Next comment is a general one Helen not with you in mind) If it was a player not willing to commit to the club a lot on here would be up in arms and saying get shut. Life is full of ifs and buts and sometimes we just have to get on with it.
Huddersfield said almost straight away that people already in employment had applied. How would we feel if it came out that Daniel was one of them? It wouldn't show him in a good light.
I think if he does get the opportunity to manage at a higher level here he will stay ( he has put a lot of effort into learning English for eg.) and eventually his wife may well join him. I would not move teenage children to another country as their schooling/friendships etc is crucial at that age. It's different for Chris Stern as his children are young and it's an excellent opportunity to become bilingual. If Winkler was still at Huddersfield then maybe I could see the pull but tbh as things stand I can't see why hed bother talking to them.
