Never seen someone use a form table to justify a manager overseeing a relegation before.

The time to judge struber will be next season, hope you dont turn on him as fast as you have stendel. I camt knock stendel his football was always entertaining and attacking last season was one of the most enjoyable in 20 years.

I agree. I'm definitely giving Struber more time, it wasnt an easy situation he came into either. Just not too keen on the diamond formation.

I'm not a fan of the diamond I think it forces us to play down the middle too much which we dont have the players for and it leaves us playing players out of position too much. I also didnt him leaving ritzmaier on the pitch last weekend when he had a absolute mare. But he has had some success and deserves a go next season.

Daniel was great last season. His enthusiasm in the dug our was infectious, especially after Morais. And the way he galvanised a relegated squad was great. All be it, the players he inherited had a lot of championship (if only for one season) and league one experience. BUT... and here is the but....

Even last season we got caught out with the high press. Davies didn’t get in the team of the season because he stood behind a good defence with naff all to do. He got it because he made important saves. Even in a lot of games we won, we were caught out with the press and a striker went one on one with Davies due to a long ball over the top. Thankfully for us, a League one striker isn’t very good, and Davies saved or they missed.

Fast forward to this season, strikers are better, teams attacking play is better and the high press caused us to concede a lot of goals. Brentford at home springs to mind, where all the goals were scored by the diagonal ball played behind the full back who had shot up field to press and got caught out of position.

I read a lot of threads on here and it appears with the love for Daniel it makes you think we weren’t bottom when he left, or with only one win from season so far at that point.

In Hearts first game under Stendel, where they lost against St Johnstone, the St Johnstone manager came out and said he knew they would find space behind the full backs, so it seemed his management style had been found out.

After Murray, Struber has come in, and although still bottom has a better PPG, with largely the same players, especially until the January transfer window.

The consensus on here seems to be that Solbauer (excuse the spelling) has improved the team, Ludewig is 50/50 and Ritzmaier is worse then what we had before. Yet, when Struber having a better PPG then Stendel is mentioned this seems to be forgetten, and the ‘Struber brought in his own players’ line is dragged out, even though the consensus believes that they haven’t really improved the team.

Hopefully, even if we are relegated, Struber gets a chance to get us back up.

If he doesnt adapt l will.

And to be fair l"ve hardly turned on him, i"m stating the Struber shouldn't be held responsible for our start.

Your right he shouldn't and stendel shouldn't for hearts start and he was given a hard time here having his best players replaced by gambles. Hopefully struber does well in league one next season but a few worrying signs from him especially last home game.

If people want to go back & see the squads we had when Stendel was in charge they might reevaluate their view.

Numerous defensive players were injured, we literally had no other option but to press teams as we didn’t have the defenders to soak up pressure & we had no one who could win a header as we sold Moore & Brown was injured for the majority of Stendel’s time in charge this season.

Any comparison of points gained is just stupid when Stendel had to try & gel a load of new players & Struber’s had a transfer window to bring his own players in.

It’s a bit like saying Morais was as good as Heckingbottom in our last relegation season as he probably got a similar points total when Heckingbottom had to gel the new side & Morais got the benefit of McBurnie & Moore joining in January.

Really good thoughts here. The Trust night we had where Stendel did the presentation that got him the job, it was possibly one of the most impressive things I've seen in football. One, because we don't get exposure to strategy, tactics, and presentations like that outside of Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher. Two, because Stendel did it English and this was like week four of the season.

However, there was one part where he showed a defensive setup after the press and it showed us being left wide open to the diagonal ball over the top. His comments were that the ball can't be shifted over that quickly so there's no need to be worried about it too much. In League One he was right, although you've correctly mentioned how crucial Davies was in our success, but in the Championship we needed to be much, much tighter and we didn't appear to try and be that.

It wasn't the pressing that we the issue. It was more the aimless kamikaze pressing with little regard for being setup to defend. I loved Stendel, but I think it's fair to say he could have done more tactically in the Championship (and yes we could have done more with recruitment too - but he did get some of his own signings).

Thing is, it wasn't just getting caught out by those kind of balls, it was individual errors made by rookie defenders to the championship, all getting used to playing together without a calming more worldly wise defender to keep it together. I don't think Solly is an outstanding defender but he's obviously very vocal and can organise. In a few years, no doubt Halme would be able to do the same.
