Condolences Tim I met your dad just once at the Swindon home game, Autumn 2004. I also chatted to him a few times via this board.
He fought a valiant and admirable battle against overwhelming odds, and for this alone he was universally admired by the BBS community. We also know he was immensley proud of his family and the achievements of his children.
His long fight is over, may he rest in peace.

God rest him! Never met him but reading his postings on here he was an inspiration and really put everything else into perspective. Condolences you you and your family.
Not sure what but perhaps if they are still doing the bricks in the Ponty we can do one of those....that wouldn't cost much I know but could be part of a memorial - how about sponsoring a game in his memory?
RIP Steve Never met to him or spoke to him really but always read his posts and will always remember how much of an inspiration he was and is.

i'm not sure about sponsoring a game. Which will just mean a piss up for a few lucky fans and nobody else outside the BBS would really take much notice.
How about a giant flag taken to all home games with 'Steve S' and BarnsleyFC wrote on it. A more lasting memorial that cannot fail to be noticed by everyone and will help to create a bit of an atmosphere at oakwell too (something that i'm sure steve would want)

RE: Strange this.......but just heard my old gaffer from Dearne Valley pit has died......Frank Parki Remember him well from Dearne Valley, I was on Eric Mallins shift, very sorry to hear that.
But perhaps.. we could liase with the club and forgoe the matchday stuff and just get the mementoes of the day or even allow Steve's family to take up the hospitality. Matchball sponsorship might be a better idea
Many condolences I never met him, but Steve S seemed a brave and intelligent bloke, who was always eloquent and inspiring in his posts. Thoughts are with his family.
