Full Ponty ......its no good starting to watch a team this season and then trying to make comment

If you would have watched the team for longer you would be able to think back to when Kay came onto the scene and played midfield (England under 18 squad) and how good he was then
Problem is - he was so good at the time, since then due to circumstances at the club he has played every position on the pitch except goal keeper

RE: Best midfielders at the club - in order:

what he does do well is, on a throw in he offers himself from center back and can carry the ball but that is once every 5 games he plays, i agree his best/natural position is at center back and if he continues as he is he will be quality!

He he.

Yes.
This is obviously my first season as a Reds fan & I've never seen Kay play before.

Let me make it very simple for you:
No matter what has happened during Kay's development - the fact is - he does not have a footballing brain.

McPhail has.

For once I agree with Jay.
Kay should be centre half & club captain.

A midfielder he is not.

But I am basing this upon one season, obviously.

Can't really do that Bottsey cos..........

You are not voting on like for like
Some fans such as Full Ponty have not seen Kay play in midfield
Others can't remember what Kay was like when he played midfield - short memories (Daily Star readers)

Aye.

I've never seen Kay play in midfield before.

You sound like Connie Jokeman.
Have you got 41,000 years experience in 'BFC Studies'?

I thought Kay showed promise in midfield a few years ago.
He had the energy to get from box to box.
He has not progressed - he doesn't have the skill or the experience to operate effectively in the middle of the park.
Nothing I will say can convince you of this - let's just see what happens in the next few years shall we?

Like me you've probably seen Antony play at all levels of the game. I agree wholeheartedly with what you have written. He has been forced to play in so many positions due to inadequacies in those positions, that the lad needs to be retrained in what is his best position. Sorry about Rolly shooting you in the back. I think he's calmed down a bit now!

Dont think we have a decent midfield man at the club

Not compared to the likes of Hignett, Glavin, Banks, Redfearn, Thomas, Gray, Archdeacon, etc etc etc

Maybe I have been spoilt

McPhail is likely the best of a poor crop though Burns's efforts are commendable.

Anthony Kay wont make the grade in Midfield..EVER IMHO.

Concentrate on CH with Kay and he might make a good un.
