Not getting upset about owt, just giving my opinion on the matter, the fact that people's opinions differ and we all like to voice our opinions is the reason this forum is still going after all these years, if it wasn't for me posting in this thread, the thread would be near the bottom of the page now, most posts are in reply to my posts, and every thread on here is the same, if everyone agreed it'd be like a morgue on here, it's only difference in opinions and personalities and people being aloud to voice and express them that keeps the place as busy as it is
So basically the right wing members of the board dislike him...not really rocket science is it? Comedy had nowhere else to go for Nightmare after Bernard Manning pegged it.
It's not his material, it's him and the way he delivers it, he sounds depressed all the time, stands silent far too long, and draws things out when it's just not funny enough to, never seems to be flowing at all, it's as though he thinks his audience is thick, and they need time to think, because they could never understand just how funny he actually is, without thinking time, I could think about it all day, he'll never turn my smile into a laugh, he's just not good enough.
I beg to differ, I've seen him live two or three times over the years and have always found his schtick to be really clever, brilliantly constructed, and (crucially) p*ss funny. In fact he's been consistently good from his Fist of Fun/Richard not Judy days right up to his latest BBC2 offerings. His own politics matter not a jot to me, I'm watching him because I want him to make me laugh, and I've no issue if that includes laughing at myself and my politics.
I have a feeling Nightmare would have gone to a Tommy Cooper gig and said he was ***** because he kept messing up the magic tricks.
Stewart Lee isn't my cup of tea either (and my politics are definitely nowhere near right wing). Definitely a stench of comedy snobbery in this thread, which does tickle me.
Like. Although most of the audience were Guardian reading lefties. Who he took the pi55 out of aswell
