I feel for the guy, but he knew what he was getting into. Paul Cook all the way for me and a few older heads with the cash. Still think we've got a good squad, seems teams know how to set up against us. We've no plan B we need to sign some lads who can change the approach, namely a target man and lads who can put ball into the box from crosses. We can still be high energy, my only worry is will the Austrian lads now want to leave.

I think with the release clause being made public, that was admission by Dane that it is no rumour.

Back to Red Bull: Struber is leaving Barnsley

According to Sky information, Gerhard Struber is leaving FC Barnsley and will in the future act as head coach of MLS club New York Red Bulls. Red Bull has the return action cost 2 million euros. In his early years, Struber worked as a coach for various Red Bull teams.

The term of office of coach Gerhard Struber at the English second division club FC Barnsley is over. Struber makes use of his exit clause. The Salzburger's contract on the island would have run until summer 2022. Struber moved from WAC to England last November, and with Barnsley he successfully managed to stay in the league championship in a heartbeat finish.

At the New York Red Bulls, Struber succeeds Chris Armas. Struber signs a three-year contract with the Red Bulls. The Red Bulls are in 7th place in the Eastern Conference table after 13 rounds. In the table seventh, Struber meets among others on Daniel Royer, who is now 30 years old. In addition, Samuel Tetteh is on loan with the New Yorkers.

For Gerhard Struber it is a return to Red Bull. The 43-year-old Struber had already worked as a supervisor in the youth division of Red Bull Salzburg for several years. From July 2015 to the end of May 2016, he was assistant coach of the combat team before Struber coached the U-16 team for a year. He then worked as a trainer and talent manager at FC Liefering.
