Just watched the(extended) highlights of the Morecambe game, as I have for the others provided. Enjoyed watching the possession and passing BUT I just can't see ANT goals in this side. Can anybody point to something, someone that I am missing? OR does here need to be an extra big spend in the next couple of weeks?

Yes it’s a worry. The likes of Chaplin, Vic, Miller, Frieser aren’t good enough to provide a real goal threat at this level. Hopefully we have a couple of signings in the pipeline before the season start!

Agree we’re looking nice and pretty with the ball but i think we might be lacking that explosive pace upfront or even from midfield that can get us in behind teams hopefully still time to remedy this in window.

Yes these are warm up games ,to give players game time to get them up to match fitness.
Don't think friendlies will dictate where our season goes ,however I agree on the fact we need someone to step up and become a goal threat, I am hoping Carlton Morris can lead the line with another big target man to bring Woodraw in as a goal threat.
He does have a good track record in the championship does Cauley.

no one's going 100% in friendly's and its easier to defend at 90% and not concede then be the attacker holding something back and scoring, I would say, give it 10 games in the Championship, then we'll know - I'd be surprised if there aren't plenty of goals in Woodrow and Morris if they stay fit and play regularly. Plus if the Oulare deal finally goes through he looks a real handful.

Oh dear, this reminds me of the Struber era. Pleasing on the eye until we hit the final third. Maybe Styles should just learn the Mowatt up-and-under hoof and we stick with Big Val's tactics..

    Woodrow? Quality
    Morris? Quality
Cole written off before he's kicked a ball?

Plus 2 more in if fringe players can be moved on. Oulare plus A N other.

Woodrow and Morris are certainly more than capable. Cole scored a fair few in Scotland last season, albeit in a bit of a purple patch. Styles I'm sure will score more from midfield. Even Herbie Kane has registered elsewhere. Set pieces are being worked on, which I think will see more goals from the centre halves (although Helik is pretty prolific already).

We're also targeting another striker and central midfielder.

    I'm not worried just yet.

Looks like overloads on the wings are going to be our main tactic. We love that quick switch out to the full back in space - sadly I think Williams is a great player but I think we need a left footer as it’s going to be lots of crossing on his weaker foot.

I wouldn't mind having asymmetrical wing backs. Brittain on the right putting cross in from out wide and Williams on the left cutting inside and shooting/laying off.

Seems like that's the instruction to Williams anyway.

Ben Williams is a left footer - just a thought

More outgoings and incomings before the season starts.

I think Morris and Woodrow could get 15 a piece this season if they stay injury free. Then you’re looking to see who else chips in, with maybe only Styles really having some sort of an eye for goal. I am hoping for some Herbie Kane set pieces this season though so that could bring in some goals from free kicks and corners.

Then off the bench I think Cole will be quite impactful with his pace and if we sign this big striker (not sure how hairy his arse is), he’ll offer something different.

    We’ll be reyt.

Too early to call. The best two chances fell to Jordan Williams in the first half. A bit of composure & he would have scored at least one. Odour looked good on the left side of attack. That is his position IMO. He delivers great balls into the box & can finish.

I think Morris will reach double figures but I agree, we need something different up top. Morris fitted in brilliantly with our old style, hopefully the new style will suit him.

I think we will lose our first 6 games if we go into season with no more signings,we not got the skill level to play the out from the back game,Big Val knew, can see a few Preston away under Stendel results if we try it,we need new midfield general and big lad upfront who can hold ball up
