You certainly did,nt study the working class struggles at school , maybe you don't wanna know the truth .
Was quite looking forward to a thread about stupid football chants. Shame it somehow managed to drift onto politics.
No I'm not pissed. It's a Monday and I'm at work tomorrow morning. I've studied the strike in some depth - it was a few years ago I must add, but I've consulted secondary sources as well as primary sources (excellent collection in Sheffield Archives for instance - many of which are actually from a pro-NUM perspective if anything). It is widely reported that Scargill wanted to bring down the government. That's corroborated by accounts from across the political spectrum. Look, I accept that some people on here may see Scargill as some sort of hero for what he did (or tried to do), and that's a matter of personal opinion. What does wind me up is people who just try to shoot opposing views down and resort to personal insults or patronising comments. Let's leave it there eh?
No , it is obvious now that you are a wind up merchant with no grasp of the miners strike and also the periods pre and post strike What winds me up is ill educated postings that you have put on here If fighting to preserve your job/income/family unit is seen as scargill hero worshipping then so be it in your mind Books are great , being involved in the reality of it was even better I cannot forget the lies of the government at the time Your comments about scargill are your opinions , but sadly not based on any facts Go back to your original unelected leader post , you let your right wing views be exposed early
Think you had to be part of it to truly understand it - I was one of those waiting for the free dinner tickets at school - one of the worst years of my life. Government spent years preparing for that strike - stock piling coal etc - it was an unbelievable attack on the working man. Steel workers copped it first then the miners - cold calculated kill.
