If he's gone backwards since Vals time in charge, as a young player, the club has to take some responsibility, what are they teaching him? I'm all for taking personal responsibility, but what's going on coaching wise?

So the moral to this story is that you need to slag him off before and during every game. That way he'll score 20+ before the end of the season...

Both have similarities imo. Both go missing very often especially in tougher games, Both luxury players, both lightweight, Both look good with the ball at feet and have a decent touch.. although moncur had 2 decent seasons at league one where he contributed with goals and assists one for Colchester the other with us and Luton.

When fully committed the answer is yes. Cadden is better going forward but Styles is the best all around wing back

I think you're probably right, and was somewhat playing devil's advocate. I'm a massive Nicky Cadden fan, but Styles is probably a more natural footballer. However, Cadden's contribution in terms of goals and assists is very impressive. I really hope we can tie him down to a longer contract.

Don't think he likes playing wing back.

I think he would have been outstanding in Duff's high tempo pressing game last season.
I've said it before that there's only Roberts and Cole that haven't been written off at some point this season which says to me somethings not quite right so far.

You would have taken who out of last season's midfield to accommodate him?

What's to say Styles wouldn't have been outstanding with good tactics and clear instructions?

But who would you take out of last season's midfield for him?

Yeah I not sure if it’s so much that he doesn’t want to play wing back or just that he prefers centre mid out of the two

I like Styles and think he’s had a few decent moments this season. Although given he’s an international and wants to be playing at championship level, maybe should’ve done a bit more.

Certainly improves our squad with him being here currently.

They were all outstanding last season which is kind of my point. It would have been up to Styles to take his opportunity like kane and Phillips did.

Styles can't hit a ball like Phillips can and he can't pass a ball like Phillips can. Phillips got more goals and assists last season than Styles has in his whole career. Problem with Phillips this season he started suspended then Collins had him benched when he does play we don't play to his strengths.

Styles is two years younger, has played more then a hundred games in the Championship Phillips has played zero games at that level. Styles regularly turns out for an international team who've qualified for a major tournament with no defeats, with him playing regularly. If you toured the league managers of The Championship and League one and offered them either player I'm guessing about 99% would pick Callum.

Just for further balance (I like Cadden and Styles btw) wasn't Styles at the top of the tackling stats under Val for the league that season?

I think he’s a player that plays better under some sort of threat , Val looked like someone who would put people up against the wall if you didn’t follow his instructions , for Hungary if he looks like slacking he might not make it out of the country .

It would be nice to have such special powers but alas, I'm afraid not. And I'm pretty uncomfortable with berating any of our players (despite evidence to the contrary earlier in the thread). Styles is clearly not without skill and that's why he scores goals. I just think he's way too inconsistent and not across games but within a game. For me, he loses the ball in dangerous areas and allows the opposition to attack us way too often for him to be considered an asset.
