Thought that was the reason why we shafted Watford and played the Man City friendly to get him in earlier.
I’ve only read that rumour on here. If true that might have been the difference between six months and three months, as at CEO level you’re normally talking half a year unless mutually agreed
I am not concerned as there isn"t a lot I can do about it but I certainly have not got my head in the sand , over the years you think you have seen every scenario & then something else crops up that you did not expect but the one thing I used to do is get upset about everything, however I have now come to realise getting wound up & upset is pointless , things evolve & I tend to let the passage of time work things out but I keep an open mind & do not bury my head in the sand !
I share some of the OP's concerns re ground safety (which seems bizarre - but possibly beyond the club's control) and the Belgians. However, we won't get an update on the ground issue because a court case is underway and press releases would probably break the sub-judice rule
He’s already named as the CEO in the programmes for our home games which seems a little odd considering he’s not actually in post yet.
He’s coming and has agreed the deal plus been announced. We had one of the Belgians do the pre-match presser and they can’t even train with us anymore
Yes I am aware that Paul Conway is ‘acting CEO’ - that has been the case in the past. But he isn’t even in the country is he? I didn’t ask who was technically in post, but who was actually doing the job of running the club day to day. It’s not really something that can be done solely remotely - as is being proven. And I don’t agree with the suggestions that nobody cares if we are winning. There is a much bigger picture. The stuff happening behind the scenes is very concerning; us not playing at Oakwell may be much more likely and sooner than we’d all wish for. We can for varying reasons at the moment sell only half the seats on one stand, a third of the seats in another, and have all fixtures as all ticket. We can’t use one of the main exits of the ground. There have been different issues with safety certificates for several seasons. The maintenance of the ground costs a lot of money every year and the main owners of the club don’t have any control of the ground. It can’t take much more for a decision to be taken to write Oakwell off. Plus if various legal actions don’t go their way, they may also just walk away from the club. I’m not sure loads of potential suitors are lining up to buy their share.
