Thought you might pipe up

If they can't save £20 up there is not much incentive to offer £5 tickets as a one off is there as these fans won't be returning anyway

There is no long term benefit in offering a one off cheap ticket - in fact there is no short term benefit - see my post re the Forest and Swansea games last season.

RE: Bottom of the league ?

When exactly would be a better time than when we have a new management team....

with 3 games to go or when we've lost 5 on the bounce or when its -5 degrees.....???

If your upset about it Dreamy and it happens I will personally buy you a £5 voucher for the clubshop...howzat...???

RE: Bottom of the league ?

Our club shop is full of junk so i'd not use a clubshop voucher anyway. Fook knows why they wouldn't listen to DJ Fatty Boy and his suggestions. The new management team should be incentive enough for fans to watch us.

RE: All the additional fans who came to the Forest game

Probably about 4K on the gate but by the time you accounted for the cheap tickets and what the club would have taken from full price tickets with a smaller crowd you're not talking much difference.

Harsh world you live in James

it might be the only chance some people can afford to see a match.

You can't say these fans won't be returning you don't know, if it encourages say a handful to have a season ticket then it's worth it in my eyes.

Also my neighbour took advantage of one of the cheap games last season, with his son. He said he enjoyed it and would go more often but couldn't afford £30 a chuck. He can't have a season ticket as he works most Saturdays.

Not being funny, but if you don't give two hoots and you agree with the idea in principle then why are you posting about it ?

You've proved my point really. If you said he took his son and now they both have season tickets it might have been anecdotal evidence that it can work. The fact they still aren't going is anecdotal evidence to prove it doesn't work. The club is not a charity so it has to think of the benefit.

    Suppose it's better than...

    ...trying to be SuperTyke.

Anyroad, back to the point in hand - are you actually saying that there is no benefit to the club that it attracts 5,000 extra customers to the ground at a 5er a pop? No benefit that they each, lets say, spend a 5er on average on refreshments, merchandise, programmes etc?

That 50k is pointless to the club is it? Even if they don't come back ever again?

    Thanks,

    Unloyal feckless Dirk wannabe Dyson.

It didn't work for my neighbour

but that is not to say that it hasn't for everyone.

There also has to be a time in my opinion when the club needs to be seen to doing something not only for financial gain. It is not a charity but the benefit to the club cannot always be measured in hard cash it could be a better public image ?

I don't get this, why does a discussion on an idea turn into

... a slanging match with personal abuse ?

    Am I missing something ?

    I'm not sure...

...but I think it started with all BFC fans who don't attend games being told they're unloyal and feckless.

It's not just this thread though it seems endemic

... I'm sure it's got worse over that last year or so.

My point was that additional income is additional income

The numbers were an example based on teh two numbers quoted

    Thing is though

It's not just £20. People like me who have to travel for 2/3 hours have to fork out for plenty of extras. When I used to go game by game and pay on the gate, the costs could quite easily end up being £60/£70/£80 +

Now that IS quite a lot every 2 weeks

I'm all for the cheap days, fill the ground, hopefully some of those who come, will go again

    I appreciate that Pete...

... all i was suggesting is that in fact it was likely to be less additional income.

and if you have a couple of kids then the cost can very easily

    become prohibitive.
