The Glasshouse in the gateway plaza is good if you just want some good, cheap pub food.

If I lived down south and was coming back up to barnsley and could only have one meal I'd go for fish and chips from Ypas in Kexborough.

No, do they advertise on there?

They don't have proper fish and chips down south that's why I'd get 'em and that's the best chippy in Barnsley although Tunstall Cross in Wombwell and Dale Fisheries in Worsbrough are also excellent.

Surprised no-one mentioned Thaal in Darfield, they do a decent curry.

Best curry in South Yorkshire is Akbars near Meadowhall though.

We were very disappointed with Akbars last time we went. The first time it was lovely though.
Have you tried the one further on towards Rotherham ? Very tasty also.

When will you be there? I fancy another curry and I've never been there before and could maybe order a take-out to interrupt (briefly) your intimate family meal, seeing as you were not around before the Blackpool game. (If I knew how to PM, I would - sorry)

We are in Barnsley until Wednesday lunch-time but pretty busy with one thing and another. If you let me know what time you'll be in the Dil Raj tomorrow, I'll drop in to see you for a while (if you don't mind, of course).

They did get raided by immigration at one point and lost some staff, it might have been shortly after that

The Leeds one is supposed to be better though.

Do you mean Apna? Not tried it.

There is also Aagrah in Sheffield and Doncaster, another big chain (but good) that competes with Akbars.

Muskaan in Rotherham town centre is good as well, or was last time I went but that was over a year ago.

I'm going to give that one a try, what would you recommend?

    Prefer lamb to chicken.
