That's the problem with a supporters group by saying nothing you represent no one by saying summat you alienate some of your membership. its the reason ive always questioned its relevance and I don't mean that disrespectfully to anyone involved.
Ok Gally I take your point that theres no point in the Supporters Trust 'a voice for Barnsley fans' commenting on the sacking of a 'legendary' BFC manager, what about a statement on bottle tops
Fans opinions are polarised. How can one group or one person issue a statement on behalf of these two completely different people? For example dyson is livid they sacked Wilson, I think he needed sacking. How does the trust issue a statement on behalf of the two of us? It doesn't.
Personally I think the trust shouldn't get involved with certain things and should be there for 3 reasons. 1 to raise money for the club. 2. To deal with specific fan complaints on a neutral basis and 3. To organise and chair regular meetings where fans can put questions to the club. I also feel that when you buy a season ticket it should come with it automatic trust membership unless you specifically opt out.
I'm a member and my statement is this... The decision to sack Danny stinks, the statement from Ben was riddled with contradictions and I'm livid that they took the decision they did, when they did. I want the truth.
The point I was attempting to make was the ST hasn't even acknowledged anythings happened as far as I'm aware , you don't have to give a statement either way but I would have thought all fans are concerned at the number of managers we are getting through Maybe the Committee have been in comunication with Ben and Pat and already know theres a replacement , a link to the official statement on the website perhaps , but to not even acknowledge anythings happened seems a bit odd from an Official Supporters Group, but as I said earlier maybe they have on other Social Media outlets
I think I'm right in saying the ST are a voice of its members and are representative of that. We're a bunch of 6 who hopefully represent the BFC fan base but in actual fact (this is my views) we'd promote our views/morals/likes/dislikes etc if there were only us who actually believed in what we'd got to say!!! If that makes sense. I'm no good at the serious posting, prefer to tek piss misen, therein lies the attraction.
I refer you to an earlier reply that I quoted you in that you never responded to. Not that I'm saying you're right, just pointing to two fans disagreeing on something. That's why the trust couldn't possibly put a statement out. Durkar Red's post wasn't that helpful considering Gally sent a decent response.
Don't want to tread on any toes or bring anyone down, but they didn't organise the Cryne and Mansford gathering. At least be fair in criticism.
I'm only one fan, and I'm not concerned. Doesn't meant I represent the majority or the minority, but it is a view.
You're 100% correct. As (I think Dys has probably clarified). After DW week, we'd arranged a WSB get together and due to recent events opened it up to anyone. The club got wind, asked to come along and it would be BM PC in attendance. After discussions between us lot WSB decided it was an opportunity too good to turn down. Decided to make it more formal than the previous plan. Therefore looking at this Thurs to be totally different (due to recent events) than the previous 'reds on the road' and the 'secret meetings'(others words not ours). Roll on Thursday, looking forrad to it.
I think they some attempt to represent members views quite how they do that I have never been able to conceptualise. I can see what you are saying about free with your season ticket but that would probably further the misconception of them being part of the club rather than a bridge between supporters and fans.
Maybe its the written word but I think Gallys post was quite condescending/not condescending *, in tone *delete as inappropriate
Don't really agree with that sentiment. Thought it was fair and honest? You could argue that your post covered that angle by demanding a statement and aiming criticism in the trust's way? I honestly don't know what would go in to a statement. There's no majority view on the Wilson sacking. Also, Gally has set the wheels in motion for a very public Q&A that doesn't require travelling, but does involve fans being able to be part of the Secret Group that gets banded about.
Fact is - The Chinese Dyslexia Association could have released a statement this week that'd have made more sense than BFCs!
