Great question. I was born in Thorp Arch, grew up in Knaresborough, have lived in Harrogate and Leeds as an adult. Am I ok to support BFC?
Well, I was born in Kendal, lived in Arnside all my life, Dad's from Barnsley and I was brought up with Thou shall Suppoert Barnsley, no choice lol, always followed Morecambe as my little local team, bizare the other season when they were in the same league, although a s/t at Morecambe i was in the Barnsley end.......when we were in the prem Morecambe were not even in the conference....
It’s definitely fine to support a club that isn’t your local one when it’s passed down to you from one or both of your parents. The annoying ones are the ones who choose to support a big club when they’ve no ties to the club. Referring to them as ‘we’ & going on about Scousers & Cockney’s when they’re from Barnsley & support Man Utd & never go to Old Trafford for example.
Blackpool because I was conceived there. Barnsley because they were my Dad's first team. Leeds because they were my mum's first team. Arsenal because my Dad bought me the shirt to get me away from Leeds. Tottenham because they were my Dad's second love after Barnsley and he hated Arsenal and Leeds.
North of the border. Hibernian because my Dad bought me the shirt for my seventh birthday off Ponty market.( It was that or a Southampton shirt). Celtic because my Grandad bought me the bedding. Motherwell, Aberdeen because John Paul and Anthony had the Beastfair Vaults in Pontefract and I like sheep shagging.
