But he's right though. Especially with the O'Neill example. He's a top, top manager and it's unbelievable seeing the reaction of the Villa fans with regards to them 'only' being 5th
Fans may be fickle but most can tell when a team plays rubbish football. And we have had plenty of practise over the years.
I agree but I don't think I'm qualified to do a better job across all facets of football management I want him out don't get me wrong.
Simons PR Is shocking sometimes. What he says there is true. However he really doesn't take opportunities to get the fans onside. For as long as he's been here, he at best commands a grudging respect. At worst, from some, hatred. Part of the job needs him to have a rapport with the fans. Because he needs them behind him and his team.
to be fair I have never been a fan of his but I can see his argument.... He should have learned on his coaching courses that once you start to alienate the fans youre on a slippery slope....
I never stated I could do a better job than him I said that I couldn't do a much worse job than he has done lately. ie could I have got us much lower in the league than he has done lately?
RE: He stated he could do a better job I'm not a Davey critic. It's hardly exaggerating to point out that yet again someone is dismissing the fans as idiots. I have always found that really annoying. I don't know why we bother watching a game we are not supposed to know anything about.
His day to day running of the club is probably pretty good. The players seem to enjoy training, and from a Darren Moore interview a while back, he said that Davey is one of the best coaches he's played under. I just wish he'd do more on a Setdy, than stand with his hands in his pocket. He'd probably make a very good number 2, in the Brian Kidd mould.
On the O'Neill point I can agree IF the same person on the radio who criticised him had also said he should be england manager
That's me But put me, thee, Supertyke or whoever in charge and we'd have been down by Christmas.
Of course successful football management's just about picking the 'right' side...

Oh Fcking Hell Fire man I don't think there's a national register of criticism where those in the public eye can read up on who specifically criticised who after saying the polar opposite when they are making a general point.
I'm going out to HMV tomorrow and buying every single they have in stock I would like to choose myself which ones are good and which are **** but I have never produced a record so I can't comment. I'll just have to buy them all like he expects us to buy tickets to watch barnsley every week without having an opinion
yes so can i but wonder if Martin O'Neil cricises his own fans by association Lose the fans and its uphill all the way. The football is very poor at the moment and the results are no better, so Davey has to accept. He says its not how we play its the result well 2 wins in 10 says it all to me. We have him to the end of this season no matter what lets hope he keeps us up for our sakes, after all he can walk away with a nice cheque. We will have to put up with league 1
Speaking as someone "outside of the game"....
You're messing about too much Simon. You're coming up with too many of your own radical ideas in the hope that they'll pay off and you can claim the glory.
You're not Alex Ferguson (or, for that matter, Martin O'Neil.) You should be listening to people not retaliating to deserved criticism by telling them they don't know what they're talking about. It doesn't take a footballing genius to see this squad shouldn't be battling relegation from the second tier or where to place the blame.

If davey has no idea whether that man had previously said O'Neil should be england manager then it is a bit unreasonable to call him fickle for saying he doesnt rate him. it might have been his opinion for years which makes him the opposite of fickle.
I think he's showing himself up as a lovely person Jay The cornered vermin is the first to snap at the creature throwing peanut shells at its head
Yeah, they didn't play well, but that doesn't mean every man and his dog should be slagging off O'Neill.
I watched the game (as I'm sure many on here did) and Villa weren't THAT bad, certainly not so much so that they deserved to be boo'd off at full time
Just seems football fans have very short memories at times.
