Swansea v Eric Winstanley's Reds play off 2nd leg

So frustrating because we were so close. When the dust settles think we can all agree how proud we are of what these players have done this season. Hopefully whatever team and coach we have at the start of next season we can build on this.

 

We lost a tie without actually giving up a chance. They (including patron saint hourihane) were a set of cheats. Some of our players looked smoked. But really proud. Hopefully we can keep them/him!

 

Amazing season, let's not get down hearted I think this is the start of something special, it wasn't in the plan to go up this season we over achieved, let's over achieve next season and go up automatically, we are no longer in the "teams like barnsley" category we are on the radar now and potential targets will see that

We’ll done lads, fantastic effort this season to totally exceed all expectations.
Let the rebuild begin as the team is stripped as per usual.

 

Sickening but what a season. What efforts from Val and the boys. Made me feel like a kid again. Nothing can take away the effort and courage we’ve shown against all odds.

Onwards and upwards

 

Yes the ref was shocking but tbh if we'd been on top like we were 2nd half there'd have been less free kicks. Gutted but we need to learn from this and cone back even stronger next year having had another championship year plus play offs under our belt.

 

That’s the way I feel. All season the standard of refereeing has been crap, we’ve had a lot of awful decisions against us, far far more than what’s gone for us. The added time and what went off in that time was nothing short of disgusting.

 

I have to ask. When did shirt pulling stop being a foul? We should have had at least three penalties and a free kick before their goal.

 

But the other half wont!

 

You forgot the ref’s contribution to Swansea’s win

 

I’ve no complaints about the result at all. The best team won. But if football has come to this, where players are throwing themselves down at the slightest touch, and falling down feigning a head injury and the ref falling for it every time, the game’s on the verge of not being worth watching.

 

I'm not gutted, these lads did our town proud, favourites for relegation, we can't win every game, we've had a fantastic season and finished well above many teams with multi million pound budgets .

That's important to me...if we did the same stuff the Swansea players did tonight I would not watch another Barnsley game

 

Disappointing result. Got so close.

 

As fantastic a season as its been can't help but feeling like it's an opportunity missed. Think we will find it a lot tougher next season. Changes in playing personnel, will Val still be here? If so I'm sure teams now know what we're all about so may have to tweak the style!

 

I agree, but for it to happen we need to keep hold of our players and big Val, it will be interesting to see how that one pans out.

 

Why does everyone keep saying that we're going to lose all of our players? Mowatt is out of contract and will probably leave and Dike is only a loan. Why would we get rid of all our players when we are staying in the same division we already had them in and they are under contract? We haven't been relegated and having to cut the wage bill.

 

Exactly that, so proud of the lads this season, put us on the map again. Yoooooooo Reddddddddssss!!

It’s fair to say the way the games going if it weren’t for our home town clubs or non glory hunting affiliates to clubs a lot of people would say fek it imo .

 

I know they won't care, but Swansea are the biggest frauds ever to set foot on a pitch.

Every time they went to ground it was like they'd been shot in the face.

I hope they go up and get absolutely pummelled week in week out and finish with the lowest points total in the history of top-flight football.

We were done by two goals that should never have happened.

 

Or maybe just maybe Val's learned something too .
