You think Stones is overrated? Really?

He's a proper Rolls Royce of a footballer.

 

He's been one of the best in that position for club and country since Ferdinand. You don't command the game time he gets from Pep if your not at the very top. if we had another to pair with for England in the past 5 years we may have won summat. Think he'll be 2nd choice by the next world cup with his injury issues now tho.

Yet only 3rd ever England manager to manage 100 games.
His success rate as been nil in winning trophies but he as an excellent level of achievement since the last win in 1966.
I'm still backing us to win this one.

 

I thought Stones could’ve dealt with it a bit better to be honest but it was a decent ball across.

He’s had another good tournament, one which he’s had to have some inexperience beside him.

I’d love to see him pop up with a goal. That is if we decide to actually put our set pieces into the box, instead of going short and ending up at Pickford’s feet within 10 seconds.

Would love to see him step up and carry the ball through the midfield now and again which he has shown many times he can do.

Looks like Southgate doesn’t favour that, using him more as a quarterback passer of the ball, which is fine but too many static, short pointless plays to fellow defenders for my liking so far.

Give him the freedom to run at the Dutch and I reckon it would cause them real problems.

 

We have a r8 chance of winning it Baz but I think it will be inspite of Gareth and not because of him. He has a great record no denying that, but he needs to be proactive and not reactive with his subs and formations. Hope he wins Euros and ends on an high though.

 

‘Overrated’ lol.I bet there isn’t a manager/coach in the World that wouldn’t have him in their team. When world class players sing his praises it tells you everything you need to know. Reminds me of that ITV commentator (forget his name) talks over everything Stones does, until he makes a rare error/ stray pass etc and he can ‘t shut up about it. Calling people out on here for not criticising an error he made is pathetic really

 

Rubbish, no he didn’t get the connection he wanted, but it wasn’t the glaring error 1 or 2 on here are making out.

 

My thoughts exactly, plenty of shoulda coulda going on but it was just a good swiss move that caught us out. I expect a lot of fans who were touting us to get battered by them need an excuse to look at but it's football and every team, even the best ones are always a whisker away from getting caught out that way.
