***** from Bairstow. I'm not a massive cricket fan but I don't understand how a professional sportsman can be so obviously overweight.
Did nobody else see the Barnsley flag during one of Australians many 6’s? I could’ve sworn I’d seen one in the crowd, but looking at this thread and not seeing it mentioned I may have been mistaken. Was the only positive thing I’ve seen from this game so far.
We lost the game in the first 6 overs. Took them far too long to work out how they needed to bowl on that wicket.
Head Coach Matthew Mott must be under pressure. England don't look at all prepared for this tournament. They got lucky against Scotland.
The sooner we get rid of Buttler as captain the better we will be. I’ve said this for a long time. He’s no idea about the 20/20 or 50 over game. Totally clueless. And this Aussie coach isn’t putting much inspiration or ideas into the team is he???
Butler's a brilliant white ball player, but he shouldn't be stumping and captaining Need to get rid Mott. This infatuation of batting second is doing my swede in....
Disappointed that Big Rakheem Cornwall hasn't been picked in the West Indies touring squad for the tests against us.
The question is, are we even going to make 2nd now. Even though we should beat Namibia and Oman, it could come down to the run rate against the Scotch team.
A very aging bowling attack of Rashid 36 Ali 36 and Wood 34 Jordan 35 alongside Archer coming back from long term injuries is a worry. Then there's Buttler at 34 and Bairstow at 33.
After that a case can be made for all four who missed out playing next game. At the very least you can swap Bairstow/Duckett, Livingstone/Curran and Wood/Topley.
I've followed his career since he was 16 and his Dad was a hero of mine. But he's done after this comp and I hope he bows out in style and sees out his days with Yorkshire. But what upsets me most is his big-headed arrogance in the press and interviews. Almost footballer like at times. Asked recently if he is aware of the noise from critics and fans, he gave an insolent 'oh, I don't listen to them' answer with a smarmy grin. He is better than that. Maybe if he had listened to 'the noise' he'd have acted on it and wouldn't now be floundering around a major final looking like a man desperately trying to cling on to former glories.
Jonny Bairstow has put so many good innings together for Yorkie and England, over the years. But he's so out of form and maybe confidence as well right now, and it is a shame to see. His dad David also used to look overweight, which some wicket keepers were/are. But Jonny does seem to be going downhill unfortunately.
Yeah England have never opened with two spin overs- I know what let’s give it a whirl in the World Cup- brainless.
