Again - brilliant mid-quote Mr Tusk said that those Brexiteers who had no plan for what Brexit meant should have a special place in hell. Nowt wrong with supporting or even promoting Brexit; but it’s moronic to promote it if you haven’t got a clue how to run the country post-Brexit. And it strikes me, that’s the vast majority of Brexiteers
How did we manage to vote to leave in Barnsley when 90% of posters on here seem to be in the "I know better than you idiots" brigade? You LOST. Get over it.
We all lost. Well, your average working class person, of which there are many in barnsley, lost. Turkies voting for Christmas.
Don't think Turkeys get a vote. Although many remainers with this fantasy of the EU being the saviour of us all is laughable. Zero reform on the cards, just more and more political and fiscal union. Veto will soon be a thing of the past. Thank god remain lost and we are leaving.
Yes, that makes sense - the 19 million is roughly 23% of the total on the Chart and I guess that about 23% of the UK population is under 18 -- although I'm not sure if it helps to include that figure neither for the leavers nor the remainers.
I dont normally comment on this subject, but, every remainer I've asked look very sheepish when ive put a question to them....The question.. Did you find fault with the wording on the ballot paper when you saw it/used it? Usual answer...Er, well er, no I didn't. Why? Well, er, er, it seemed fairly straightforward. But now you're not happy with the outcome, why? Er, er, OH F OFF!!! RACIST!!!!!
Nowt wrong with ‘self governance’, though setting fire to your shop and giving all your business interests to your selfish lying uncle is a stupid thing to do! You can’t defend stupid decisions by simply stamping your feet and shouting ‘at least it was my decision’. It’s ok to have the right to be wrong, but it’s my kids future you’re trashing, I deserve the opportunity to point out your mistake for my kids sake.
Come ask me! I’m not sheepish; there’s no discussion about what was on the ballot it was simple, there’s interesting discussions to be had about what motivated people to vote leave, what they think they’re gaining (again - even ardent Brexiteers are predidicting 30-50 years to get the economy back on track), I’d be happy to hear your answers
Is it self governing if an illegal referendum gives a split decision with no agreed outcome, then 3 years later the most damaging extreme activity is undertaken by someone elected by less than 0.3% of the population?
Thats totally fine, but how about waiting till we have actually done it, see how it goes, then come with the "I told you so's"?
The wording was straight forward, but inconclusive. Remain campaigned on the known (though interesting some are now suggesting the future is a radicalism not on display). But leave didn’t have a position. We never got to the bottom of what leave was. So my question to you, if remain had won by a tiny majority, would you think that meant we joined Schengen? Increased our payments? Gave away our veto? Joined the Euro? Pushed for fast accession of Turkish membership? And anything else offered as extremes by the leave campaign. No, I wouldn’t either. I’m reasonable, and as such an extreme action is not suitable to a modest win (especially from an illegal vote)
I would argue that in a time frame such as 30 to 50 years the financial landscape of any nation, bloc, continent or individual will fluctuate irrespective of belonging to a collective or not, 17 million people see the EU as a less appealing option, the people were asked a question and answered.
If it had been binding, the vote would have been declared illegal, as it wasn’t binding, it’s not somehow... work that out! Seeing as politicians have declared they are bound by the result, it’s illegal.
Agree with most of this, at the point of result though Cameron should have said as it was so close, it would go to a type of Public Enquiry with both sides making a case and final findings being presented to Parliament for a decision.
