Your comment on the BLM statement is possibly the best explanation I have seen on here and is 100% true.
Ref Hopkins, not on Twitter is that true? If so I don’t agree with that, not that I agree with what she says just don’t agree with censorship in any form, people should be allowed to say their view.

Freedom of speech should be a thing. Freedom of hate speech shouldn't.

As far as I'm concerned if I go to my friends house and start abusing other guests of his I'd be told to leave. I'm his guest and if he thinks my behaviour is unacceptable he's well within his rights to kick me out.
If I go to Tesco and start shouting hate speech at the customers in the middle of the tinned goods aisle I'd be told to leave and banned from the store.
Katie Hopkins goes on Twitter and shouted racist, homophobic and generally horrible abuse at twitter's other customers and guests and yet is shocked when she's told to leave.

Is that not the point of Freedom of speech? Not censoring what’s said.
My view by allowing it, it is easier to educate people to the wrongs and rights of people’s statements. Yes there will always be people taken in by it, but I’m sure you can educate more than not.
This Forums a really good example, people put things that others don’t agree with and exchanges are made and people learn.
Edit: Caveat, I’m not talking about people shouting Black people are scum etc, if that’s what the type of thing she is putting then it’s I agree it’s wrong

That's the sort of thing she's posting.

Then fair enough, I retract my statement about not being allowed to post.

I think it depends on what is said really. When things go too far they should be removed. When they aren't too far they should be left to be discussed and as you say educated or derided for their views. I think the problem is that Katie Hopkins went too far with her hate speech on a few occasions.

I also think the problem with Twitter is that not all accounts are equal. On here if you make a thread about love and happiness it has just as much prominence as a post by one of our knuckle draggers trying to spread hate. I can come along and I've got just as much chance of seeing either. On twitter that's not the case, algorithms are used and those with more followers are given more prominence. It makes the debate one sided as I could reply to her (if iwI had an account) with the most valid counter argument and only a handful of people would see it but a million would see her hate speech.

There’s freedom of speech and then there’s inciting racial hatred. They shouldn’t be confused.

I would prefer she gets to spout her nonsense because it helps us spot the ***** in society. But if she oversteps the mark, then she doesn’t earn a platform.

One serious point on this, when a lot of people do take the knee, I hope they realise that there will be respectful individuals taking part who are physically unable to do so and don't misinterpret it

No I'm sure they wont. Hopefully there'll be a badge or something to wear to show support instead.
